[His saying, the Exalted: "protecting him by the command of Allah."]
[The First Aspect]
12194 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us, [saying] Ya‘qub ibn Muhammad al-Zuhri narrated to us, [saying] ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn ‘Imran narrated to us, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from ‘Ata’ ibn Yasar, who said: Allah revealed concerning ‘Amir and Arbad regarding what they had intended against the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, His saying: "Successive [angels] before and behind him, protecting him by the command of Allah."
12195 - Hammad ibn al-Husayn ibn ‘Anbasah narrated to us, [saying] Abu Dawud narrated to us, [saying] Abu ‘Awanah narrated to us, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding the saying of Allah: "protecting him by the command of Allah," he said: They protect him from the command of Allah [by standing] before him and behind him.
12196 - My father narrated to us, [saying] ‘Abd Allah ibn Salih ibn Muslim and ‘Abd Allah ibn Raja’ both narrated to us, [saying] Isra’il narrated to us, from Simak, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "protecting him by the command of Allah," he said: They protect him until, when the decree comes, they release him.
12197 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying] Abu Bakr ibn ‘Ayyash narrated to us, [saying] I asked al-Suddi, in the time of Khalid, seventy years ago, about the saying of Allah: "For him are successive [angels] before and behind him, protecting him by the command of Allah," he said: They protect him from that which has been decreed for him [from danger] until that which has not been decreed for him.
12198 - My father narrated to us, [saying] Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, [saying] Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "protecting him by the command of Allah," he says: By the permission of Allah. So the successive ones are from the command of Allah, and they are the angels.
12199 - My father narrated to us, [saying] Abu Hurayrah Muhammad ibn Firas al-Sarraf narrated to us, [saying] Abu Dawud narrated to us, [saying] Warqa’ narrated to us, from Mansur, from Talhah, from Ibrahim, regarding His saying: "protecting him by the command of Allah," he said: From the jinn.
[The Second Aspect]
12200 - My father narrated to me, [saying] Sahl ibn ‘Uthman narrated to us, [saying] Marwan narrated to us, [saying] Juwaybir narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, [regarding] "protecting him by the command of Allah," he said: From death.
His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves."
12201 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying] Hafs ibn Ghiyath narrated to us, from Ash‘ath, from Jahm, from Ibrahim: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed to a prophet from among the prophets of the Children of Israel: Say to your people: There is no people of a village nor people of a house who are in obedience to Allah and then depart from it to disobedience to Allah, except that Allah turns from what they love to what they hate. Then He said: The confirmation of that is in the Book of Allah: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves."
12202 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying] Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, [saying] Sa‘id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves": And the change comes from the people, and the facilitation comes from Allah, so do not change the blessings of Allah that are within you.
His saying, the Exalted: "And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it."
12203 - My father narrated to me, [saying] Sahl ibn ‘Uthman narrated to us, [saying] Marwan narrated to us, [saying] Juwaybir narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, meaning His saying: "And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it," he said: So when the command of Allah comes, the kings who take guards do not avail them in anything against it.
His saying, the Exalted: "And there is not for them besides Him any protector."
12204 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying] al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, [saying] ‘Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, [regarding] "And there is not for them besides Him any protector," he said: He is the one who takes charge of them, supporting them and bringing them to Himself.
End of the fourth volume of this copy of the interpretation [Tafsir] by the Hafiz Ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn the Imam Abu Hatim Muhammad ibn Idris al-Razi. May Allah have mercy upon him.
Following it, if Allah the Exalted wills, at the beginning of the fifth [volume] is His saying: "It is He who shows you the lightning, [causing] fear and aspiration," and Allah the Mighty and Majestic is the one asked for assistance in completing it, by His might and His power. And may Allah send abundant prayers and peace upon Muhammad and his family. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
End of the interpretation of Surah al-Ra‘d.
