Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim
Volume 7 · Page 136His saying, Exalted is He: 'And if Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it.'

Translation · EN

there is no people of a village nor people of a house who are in obedience to Allah and then depart from it to disobedience to Allah, except that Allah turns from what they love to what they hate. Then He said: The confirmation of that is in the Book of Allah: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves."

12202 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying] Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, [saying] Sa‘id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves": And the change comes from the people, and the facilitation comes from Allah, so do not change the blessings of Allah that are within you.

His saying, the Exalted: "And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it."

12203 - My father narrated to me, [saying] Sahl ibn ‘Uthman narrated to us, [saying] Marwan narrated to us, [saying] Juwaybir narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, meaning His saying: "And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it," he said: So when the command of Allah comes, the kings who take guards do not avail them in anything against it.

His saying, the Exalted: "And there is not for them besides Him any protector."

12204 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying] al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, [saying] ‘Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, [regarding] "And there is not for them besides Him any protector," he said: He is the one who takes charge of them, supporting them and bringing them to Himself.

End of the fourth volume of this copy of the interpretation [Tafsir] by the Hafiz, Ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman, son of the Imam Abu Hatim Muhammad ibn Idris al-Razi. May Allah have mercy upon him.

Following it, if Allah the Exalted wills, at the beginning of the fifth [volume] is His saying: "It is He who shows you the lightning, [causing] fear and aspiration," and Allah the Mighty and Majestic is the one asked for assistance in completing it, by His might and His power. And may Allah send abundant prayers and peace upon Muhammad and his family. And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

End of the interpretation of Surah al-Ra‘d.
