Ibn Tahman, from 'Iyad ibn Ishaq, from Ibn al-Huwayrith—who is Abu al-Huwayrith—from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "And We inspired to him, 'You will surely inform them of this affair of theirs while they do not perceive'"—he said: They did not know of Allah's revelation to him.
11382 - Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, [saying] Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, [saying] Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated, from Qatadah regarding "while they do not perceive"—meaning: his brothers.
His saying: "And they came to their father at night, weeping."
11384 - It was mentioned from Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj, [who] said: I heard Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash mentioning from Jarad al-Dabbi, [who] said: I reached al-Hasan while he was delivering a sermon, and he was saying: "They brought to their father a lying, sinful [account]."
11385 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying] al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [saying] 'Amir narrated, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, [who] said: Then they returned to their father, took a kid from the flock and slaughtered it, and splashed its blood on the shirt. Then they came to their father at night, weeping.
11386 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying] 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, [saying] Salamah [who] said:
Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: When the caravan left with him, and his brothers knew that he had been taken away, they came to their father at night, weeping.
His saying, the Almighty: "They said, 'O our father, indeed we went racing'"
11387 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying] al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [saying] 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, [who] said: Then they came to their father at night, weeping. When he heard their voices, he was alarmed and said: "O my sons, what is the matter with you? Has anything befallen you regarding your flock?" They said: "No." He said: "Then what has become of Joseph?" They said: "O our father, indeed we went racing and left Joseph by our belongings, and the wolf ate him."
His saying, the Almighty: "...and you are not a believer in us"
11388 - And by the same chain, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "and you are not a believer in us"—he said: And you will not believe us, even if we were truthful.
11389 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying] 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, [saying] Salamah [who] said:
Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "and you are not a believer in us," meaning: you will not believe us even if we were truthful, and even if we had told the truth.
