12260 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Like a good tree," he said: It is a tree in Paradise. And regarding His saying: "Like a bad tree," he said: This is a parable Allah set forth; Allah did not create this tree upon the face of the earth (1).
12261 - From 'Adi ibn Hatim, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Verily, Allah turned the servants over and back, and the best of the Arabs were Quraysh. And it is the blessed tree which Allah mentioned in His Book: 'Like a good word, meaning the Quran, as a good tree,' meaning by it Quraysh. 'Its root is firm,' he says: Its root is great. 'And its branches are in the sky,' he says: The nobility with which Allah honored them through Islam, which Allah guided them to and made them of its people" (2).

12266 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Shurayh ibn Maslamah narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Yusuf narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amir ibn Sa'd al-Bajali, from Abu Qatadah al-Ansari, regarding His saying, the Exalted: "Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word in the worldly life and in the Hereafter" (the verse), he said: Verily, when the believer dies, he is made to sit in his grave, and it is said to him: Who is your Lord? He says: Allah. It is said to him: Who is your Prophet? He says: Muhammad ibn 'Abdullah. It is said to him that multiple times. Then a door is opened for him to the Fire, and it is said to him: Look at your place in the Fire had you deviated. Then a door is opened for him to Paradise, and it is said to him: Look at your place in Paradise since you remained firm.
And when the disbeliever dies, he is made to sit in his grave, and it is said to him: Who is your Lord? Who is your Prophet? He says: I do not know; I used to hear the people saying something. It is said to him: You did not know. Then a door is opened for him to Paradise,
