His saying, the Almighty: "So patience is most fitting."
11397 - My father narrated to us, [saying] Ibn al-Tabba' narrated to us, [saying] Hushaym narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yahya, from Habban ibn Abi Jabalah who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was asked about His saying: "So patience is most fitting," and he said: "It is that which has no complaint in it."
11398 - 'Ammar ibn Khalid narrated to us, [saying] Muhammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Warqa', from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "So patience is most fitting," he said: "It has no grief in it."
11399 - My father narrated to us, [saying] Ibn al-Tabba' narrated to us, [saying] Abu Khalaf al-Khazzaz narrated to us, from Yunus, from al-Hasan who said: "Patience that is most fitting" is that which has no grief above it, except to Allah.
His saying, the Almighty: "And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe."
11400 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, [saying] Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, [saying] Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe"—meaning: You are lying.
11401 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freedman of the Banu Hashim, narrated to us, [saying] 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, [saying] Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq regarding His saying: "And Allah is the one sought for help against that which you describe." He [Jacob] realized that they had plotted against him and sought the help of Allah against what he heard of their speech, when the anguish of that reached him. Thus, the affliction descended upon Jacob in his old age through the separation of his beloved; he was bewildered by his absence, not knowing whether he was alive or dead. And Joseph, in his youth and weakness, without a crime he had committed, [was subjected] to those who did this to him. His grief intensified for Jacob, and he was taken away in his slavery. The affliction rendered him a slave while he was a free man, the son of free people. The injustice of his brothers had abandoned him to the state in which he was, and all of that was in the sight of Allah; He sees and hears. Had He willed to prevent that injustice of theirs from affecting Joseph in his youth, He would have done so, and from Jacob in his old age, He would have done so. But He willed to test him to see how his resolve was.
His saying, the Almighty: "And there came a caravan."
11402 - My father narrated to us, [saying] 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Munib narrated to us, [saying] Abu Mu'adh al-Nahwi narrated to us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And there came a caravan, so they sent their water-drawer"—and the "jubb" is the well.
