Volume 7 · Page 152[Surah Ibrahim (14): Verse 34]

Translation · EN

His saying, the Almighty: "And has given you from all that you asked of Him."

12286 - From Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And has given you from all that you asked of Him," he said: From everything you desired of Him.

His saying, the Almighty: "And keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols."

12287 - From Ibrahim al-Taymi, who said: Who can feel secure from affliction after the statement of Ibrahim: "And keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols?"

His saying, the Almighty: "My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people..."

12288 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people," he said: The idols. "So whoever follows me, then he is of me; and whoever disobeys me - indeed, You are [most] Forgiving, Merciful." He said: Listen to the words of the Khalil (friend) of Allah, Ibrahim (peace be upon him). No, by Allah, they were not those who frequently cursed nor those who frequently insulted. He said: It used to be said: "Indeed, among the worst of Allah's servants is every frequent curser." He said: And the Prophet of Allah, the son of Maryam (peace be upon him), said: "If You should punish them, indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them, indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

His saying, the Almighty: "So make hearts among the people incline toward them."

12289 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "So make hearts among the people incline toward them," he said: If he had said "the hearts of the people incline toward them," then the Persians and Romans would have crowded into it.

12290 - From al-Hakam, who said: I asked Ikrimah, Tawus, and Ata ibn Abi Rabah about this verse, and they said: The hearts of the people incline towards the House, so they come to it. In another wording, he said: Their desire is towards Makkah, that they may perform Hajj.

12291 - From Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Ta'ifi: That when Ibrahim (peace be upon him) prayed for the Sanctuary, "And provide its people with fruits," Allah moved al-Ta'if from Palestine (1).

12292 - From al-Zuhri (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: Indeed, Allah the Almighty moved a village from the villages of the Levant and placed it in al-Ta'if, due to the supplication of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) (2).
