He said: A known time. And regarding His saying: 'No nation can precede its appointed time, nor can they delay it,' he said: There is no postponement after it.
His saying: 'We do not send down the angels except with the truth.'
12334 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: 'We do not send down the angels except with the truth,' he said: With the message and the punishment.
His saying: 'And they would not then be granted respite.'
12335 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: 'And they would not then be granted respite,' he said: They would not, even if the angels were sent down, be granted respite from being punished.
His saying: 'And indeed, We are its guardian.'
12336 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: 'And indeed, We are its guardian,' he said: With Us.
12337 - From Qatada regarding His saying: 'Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder and indeed, We are its guardian.' And he said in another verse: 'Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it,' and the falsehood is Iblis. He said: Allah sent it down, then He guarded it, so Iblis cannot add any falsehood to it, nor can he subtract any truth from it. Allah guarded it from that, and Allah knows best what is correct.
His saying: 'And certainly, We sent [messengers] before you among the sects of the former peoples.'
12338 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: 'And certainly, We sent [messengers] before you among the sects of the former peoples,' he said: The nations of the former people.

12339 - From Anas regarding His saying: 'Thus do We insert it into the hearts of the criminals. They will not believe in it,' he said: Polytheism, We insert it into the hearts of the polytheists.
12340 - From al-Hasan regarding His saying: 'Thus do We insert it,' he said: Polytheism, We insert it into the hearts of them.
12342 - From Ibn Zayd regarding His saying: 'Thus do We insert it,' he said: They are as Allah said; He led them astray and withheld faith from them.

قَالَ: أجل معلوم، وفي قوله: مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنَ امَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ قَالَ: لا مستأجر بعده «١» .
قوله: مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلائِكَةَ إِلا بِالْحَقِّ
١٢٣٣٤ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلائِكَةَ إِلا بِالْحَقِّ قَالَ بالرسالة والعذاب «٢» .
قوله: وَمَا كَانُوا إِذَا مُنْظَرِينَ.
١٢٣٣٥ - عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا كَانُوا إِذَا مُنْظَرِينَ قَالَ: وما كانوا لو تنزلت الملائكة بمنظرين مِنَ انَّ يعذبوا.
قوله: وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
١٢٣٣٦ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ قَالَ: عندنا «٣» .
١٢٣٣٧ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ وَقَالَ في آية أخرى: لا يَأْتِيهِ الْبَاطِلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ والباطل إبليس. قَالَ:
فأنزله الله ثُمَّ حفظه، فلا يستطيع إبليس إِنَّ يَزِيد فيه باطلًا ولا ينقص منه حقًا، حفظه الله من ذلك والله أعلم بالصواب «٤» .
قوله: وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا من قبلك في شيع الأَوَّلِينَ
١٢٣٣٨ - عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الأَوَّلِينَ قَالَ: أمم الأولين «٥» .
قوله: كَذَلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ
١٢٣٣٩ - عَنِ أنس فِي قوله: كَذَلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ قَالَ: الشرك نسلكه في قلوب المشركين «٦» .
١٢٣٤٠ - عن الحسن في قوله: كَذَلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ قَالَ: الشرك نسلكه في قلوبهم «٧» .
١٢٣٤٢ - عَنِ ابْنِ زَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: كَذَلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ قَالَ: هم كما قَالَ الله هُوَ أضلهم ومنعهم الإيمان «٨» .
