do you blame me after this!? Al-Ahnaf stood up and said: O Mu'awiyah, by Allah, we do not blame you for what is in the treasuries of Allah, but we only blame you for what Allah has sent down from His treasuries, yet you have placed it in your own treasuries and locked your door against it. So Mu'awiyah remained silent.
His saying: "And We have sent the fertilizing winds."
12357 - From Abu Raja, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: I said to al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding "And We have sent the fertilizing winds," he said: Fertilizing for trees. I said: Or for the clouds? He said: And for the clouds; it passes by them until they rain.
12358 - From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And We have sent the fertilizing winds," he said: Winds that Allah sends upon the clouds, so it fertilizes them and they become filled with water.
12359 - From Ubayd ibn Umayr, he said: Allah sends the 'Mubashshirah' (the bearer of good news), which covers the earth with water. Then He sends the 'Muthirah' (the stirrer), which stirs the clouds and makes them into segments. Then He sends the 'Mu'allifah' (the joiner), which joins them together and makes them into piles. Then He sends the 'Lawaqih' (the fertilizing winds), which fertilize them, and then it rains.
His saying: "And you are not for it keepers."
12360 - From Sufyan regarding His saying: "And you are not for it keepers," he said: You are not retainers. And regarding His saying: "And We are the inheritors," he said: The Inheritor, the Everlasting.
His saying: "And We have already known the preceding ones among you, and We have already known the later ones."
12361 - Via the path of Abu al-Jawza, from Ibn Abbas, he said: There was a woman praying behind the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who was beautiful, one of the most beautiful of people. Some men would move forward to be in the first row so they would not see her, and some would stay back to be in the last row. If he bowed, he would look from under his armpits, so Allah revealed: "And We have already known the preceding ones among you, and We have already known the later ones."
12362 - Via the path of Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman, from Shu'ayb ibn Abd al-Malik, from Muqatil ibn Sulayman, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And We have already known the preceding ones among you..." until the end of the verse, he said:
