Translation · EN

It reached us that it refers to fighting. Mu'tamir said: I mentioned this to my father, and he said: This verse was revealed before fighting was ordained.

12363 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And We have already known the preceding ones among you, and We have already known the later ones," he said: The preceding ones are those in the obedience of Allah, and the later ones are those in the disobedience of Allah.

12364 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding His saying: "And We have already known the preceding ones among you, and We have already known the later ones," he said: He means by the preceding ones, those who have died, and by the later ones, those who are alive and have not died yet.

12365 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding the verse, he said: The preceding ones are Adam, peace be upon him, and those who have passed away from his offspring. The later ones are those who are in the loins of men.

12366 - From Awn ibn Abd Allah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he asked Muhammad ibn Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him, about this verse: Is it regarding the rows of prayer? He said: No, the preceding ones are the dead and the slain, and the later ones are those who will join them afterwards.

12367 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding the verse, he said: The preceding ones are the nations that have passed. And the later ones are the nation of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

His saying: "And indeed, your Lord is the one who will gather them."

12368 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And indeed, your Lord is the one who will gather them," he said: The first and the last.

12369 - From Ikrimah regarding His saying: "And indeed, your Lord is the one who will gather them," he said: He will gather these and those.

12370 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And indeed, your Lord is the one who will gather them," he said: He will gather the preceding ones and the later ones.

His saying: "From Salsal (ringing clay)."

12371 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding His saying: "From Salsal," he said:
