he said: My servants whom I have ordained for Paradise, you shall have no authority over them; they will not commit a sin except that I will forgive it for them.
12389 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: When Iblis was cursed, his form changed from the form of the angels, so he departed because of that and let out a wail. Every wail in the world until the Day of Resurrection is from that.
His saying: "It has seven gates."
12390 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "It has seven gates," he said: Jahannam (Hell), Sa'ir (the Blazing Fire), Laza (the Flame), Hutamah (the Crusher), Saqar (the Scorching Fire), Jahim (the Burning Fire), and Hawiyah (the Abyss), and it is the lowest of them.
12391 - From 'Ikrimah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "It has seven gates," he said: It has seven levels.
12392 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "It has seven gates, for every gate of them is a portion divided," he said: They are, by Allah, ranks according to their deeds.
12393 - From Al-A'mash, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: The names of the gates of Hell are: Hutamah, Hawiyah, Laza, Saqar, Jahim, Sa'ir, and Jahannam; and the Fire is the collection of them.
His saying: "A portion divided."
12394 - From Al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "A portion divided," he said: A team divided.
12395 - From Al-Dahhak, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "It has seven gates, for every gate of them is a portion divided," he said: A gate for the Jews, a gate for the Christians, a gate for the Sabeans, a gate for the Magians, a gate for those who associated partners with Allah—and they are the disbelievers of the Arabs—a gate for the hypocrites, and a gate for the people of monotheism. So, for the people of monotheism, there is hope, whereas for the others, there is never any hope.
12396 - From Samurah ibn Jundub, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding His saying: "For every gate of them is a portion divided," he said: "Indeed, among the people of the Fire are those whom the Fire will take up to their ankles; and among them are those whom the Fire will take up to their waist; and among them are those whom the Fire will take up to their collarbones, in ranks according to their deeds."
