11410 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath narrated to us, [saying] al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [saying] 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, [saying] Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: He let down his bucket, and Joseph clung to the rope and came out. When the owner of the bucket saw him, he called a man from his companions named Bushra and said, "Good news! This is a boy." Joseph's brothers heard him, so they came and said, "This is a slave of ours who has fled." They spoke to him in their language and said, "If you deny that you are our slave, we will kill you. Do you think we will return you to Jacob when we have already told him that the wolf has eaten you?" He said, "O my brothers, return me to Jacob, and I guarantee you his satisfaction, and I will never mention this to you again." But they refused. So the boy said, "I am their slave."

His saying, the Almighty: "And they sold him for a low price."

11411 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, [saying] Shababah narrated to us, [saying] Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And they sold him for a low price," [meaning] the owner of the bucket and those with him. They said to their companions, "We have acquired him as merchandise," fearing that they might share him with them if they knew about him. His brothers followed them, saying to the one who drew the water and his companions, "Keep him secure, lest he flee," until they reached Egypt. He then said, "Who will buy me and give me good news?" The King bought him, and the King was a Muslim.

11412 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying] Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, from Sufyan, from a man, from Mujahid, regarding: "And they sold him for a low price," he said: The merchants kept him secret from one another, saying, "He is merchandise."

11413 - My father narrated to us, [saying] 'Ubayd ibn Adam narrated to us, [saying] my father narrated to us, [saying] Shayban narrated to us, from Jabir, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And they sold him for a low price," he says: The people of the water acquired him as merchandise, and they had sold him in secret.

11414 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid informed us by way of reading, [saying] Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb informed me, [saying] 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father, 'Ata': As for His saying: "And they sold him for a low price," they hid him among themselves, selling him in secret.

11415 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying] al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [saying] 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi: When the two men bought him, they feared the caravan would say, "We bought him."
