comes to Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, as a polytheist, he has no plea. O my son, do not enter the grave while there is in your heart an atom's weight of arrogance, for arrogance is the cloak of Allah; whoever disputes with Allah regarding His cloak, Allah will be angry with him. O my son, do not enter the grave while there is in your heart an atom's weight of despair, for no one despairs of the mercy of Allah except the astray.
His saying: "Indeed, you are a people unknown."
12414 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "Indeed, you are a people unknown," he said: Lot did not recognize them.
And regarding His saying: "...in which they were doubting [yamtarun]," he said: Regarding the punishment of the people of Lot.
His saying: "And follow behind them."
12415 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "And follow behind them," he said: He was commanded to be behind his family, following behind them at the end when they were walking.
His saying: "And proceed where you are commanded."
12416 - From Al-Suddi regarding "And proceed where you are commanded," he said: Allah brought them out to the Levant (al-Sham).
His saying: "And We conveyed to him that matter."
12417 - From Ibn Zayd regarding "And We conveyed to him that matter," he said: We revealed it to him.
His saying: "And the people of the city came, rejoicing."
12418 - From Qatadah regarding "And the people of the city came, rejoicing," he said: They rejoiced at the guests of the Prophet of Allah, Lot, when they arrived at his home, because of what they wanted to do to them of the detestable [sin].
His saying: "Have I not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"
12419 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Have I not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" he said: They were saying, "Are you to entertain anyone or give them refuge?" He said, "These are my daughters, if you were to do [so]," he said: Lot commanded them to marry the women, and he wanted to protect his guests with his daughters, and Allah knows best.
His saying: "By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly."
12420 - From Ibn Abbas, he said: Allah has not created, dispersed, or originated any soul more honorable to Him than Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. And I have not heard Allah swear by the life of anyone else besides him. He said:
