12469 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "In them you have warmth and benefits," he said: The offspring of every animal.

His saying: "And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with great difficulty (shaqq al-anfus)."

12470 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And they carry your loads to a land," he said: Meaning Makkah. "You could not have reached except with great difficulty," he said: If you were to burden yourselves with it, you would not be able to bear it except with extreme hardship.

12471 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "Except with great difficulty," he said: A hardship upon you.

His saying: "For you to ride them, and as an adornment."

12472 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "For you to ride them, and as an adornment," he said: He made them for you to ride and He made them as an adornment for you.

His saying: "And the horses, the mules, and the donkeys, for you to ride them and as an adornment."

12473 - From Qatadah: That Abu Iyad used to recite it: "And the horses, the mules, and the donkeys, for you to ride them and as an adornment," saying: He made them an adornment.

12474 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr, he said: A man asked Ibn Abbas about eating the meat of horses, so he disliked it and recited: "And the horses, the mules, and the donkeys, for you to ride them and as an adornment."

12475 - From Ibn Abbas that he used to dislike the meat of horses and say: Allah said, "And the grazing livestock, He created them; in them you have warmth and benefits, and from them you eat." So these are for eating. "And the horses, the mules, and the donkeys, for you to ride them." So these are for riding.

12476 - By way of Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir ibn Abd Allah that they slaughtered donkeys, mules, and horses on the day of Khaybar, but the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade them from the donkeys and the mules, and did not forbid them from the horses.
