His saying: "Is then He who creates like him who does not create?"
12497 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Is then He who creates like him who does not create?" He said: Allah is the Creator and the Provider, and these idols that are worshipped besides Allah create nothing; they neither possess harm nor benefit for their followers. Allah said: "Will you not then take heed?" And regarding His saying: "And those whom they invoke other than Allah" (the verse), he said: These idols that are worshipped besides Allah are dead, having no souls within them, and they possess neither good nor benefit for their followers. "Your God is one God" - he said: Allah is our God, our Master, our Creator, and our Provider, and we do not worship or invoke anyone else. "But those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts deny [it]" - he says: They deny this revelation, and they are arrogant, he said: Arrogant towards it (1).
His saying: "Undoubtedly"
12498 - Through the chain of Ali, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "Undoubtedly" - he says: Verily (2).
12499 - From Abu Malik regarding His saying: "Undoubtedly" - he says: Truly (3).
12500 - From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "Undoubtedly" - he said: Without a doubt (4).
His saying: "Indeed, He does not love the arrogant."
12501 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Indeed, He does not love the arrogant" - he said: This is the decree of Allah which He has ordained: that He does not love the arrogant. It was mentioned to us that a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: O Prophet of Allah, I love beauty until I even wish that the tassel of my whip or the strap of my sandal is beautiful; should I be afraid of [that being] arrogance? The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "How do you find your heart?" He said: I find it acknowledging the truth and at peace with it. He said: "That is not arrogance. But arrogance is to reject the truth and look down upon people, such that you do not see anyone better than yourself, and you despise the truth, so you bypass it for something else" (5).
12502 - From Ali, who said: Three things, whoever does them shall not be recorded as arrogant: one who rides a donkey and is not too proud, one who gathers a sheep and milks it, and one who makes space for the needy and treats them well in his company (6).

قوله: أَفَمَنْ يَخْلُقُ كَمَنْ لا يَخْلُقُ
١٢٤٩٧ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي
قَوْلِهِ: أَفَمَنْ يَخْلُقُ كَمَنْ لا يَخْلُقُ قَالَ: الله هُوَ الْخَالِقُ الرَّازِقُ، وَهَذِهِ الأَوْثَانُ الَّتِي تُعْبَدُ مِنْ دون الله تخلق ولا تخلق شيئًا، ولا تملك لأهلها ضرًا ولا نفعاً. قَالَ الله: أَفَلا تَذَكَّرُونَ وفي قوله: وَالَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ الآية. قَالَ: هَذِهِ الأَوْثَانُ الَّتِي تُعْبَدُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أموات لا أرواح فيها، ولا تملك لأهلها خيرًا ولا نفعًا إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٍ قَالَ: الله إلهنا ومولانا وخالقنا ورازقنا ولا نعبد ولا ندعو غيره. فَالَّذِينَ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالآخِرَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ مُنْكِرَةٌ يَقُولُ: منكرة لهذا الحَدِيث وهم مستكبرون قال مستكبرون عنه «١» .
قوله: لا جَرَمَ
١٢٤٩٨ - مِنْ طَرِيق عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لا جَرَمَ يَقُولُ بلى «٢» .
١٢٤٩٩ - عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لا جَرَمَ يعين بالحق «٣» .
١٢٥٠٠ - عَنْ الضحاك فِي قَوْلِهِ: لا جَرَمَ قَالَ لا كذب «٤» .
قوله: إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ.
١٢٥٠١ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ قَالَ: هَذَا قضاء الله الّذِي قَضَى إِنَّهُ لا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ وذكر لنا، إِنَّ رَجُلاً أتى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ الله، انه ليعجبني الجمال، حتى أود إِنَّ علاقة سوطي، وقبالة نعلي حسن، فهل ترهب عَلَى الكبر؟ فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: كيف تجد قلبك؟ قَالَ: أجده عارفًا للحق مطمئنًا إليه. قَالَ: فليس ذاك بالكبر، ولكن الكبر إِنَّ تبطر الحق وتغمص الناس، فلا ترى أحدًا أفضل منك وتغمص الحق، فتجاوزه إِلَى غيره «٥» .
١٢٥٠٢ - عَنْ علي قَالَ: ثلاث مِنْ فعلهن لَمْ يكتب مستكبرًا: مِنْ ركب الحمار ولم يستنكف، ومن اعتقل الشاة واحتلبها، وأوسع للمسكين وأحسن مجالسته «٦» .
قوله: وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ مَاذَا أَنْزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ قَالُوا أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ
١٢٥٠٣ - عَنْ السُّدِّيِّ قَالَ: اجتمعت قريش فقالوا: إِنَّ محمدا رجل حلو
