12518 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "And those who migrated for the sake of Allah after they were wronged," he said: These are the companions of Muhammad. The people of Mecca wronged them and drove them out of their homes, until groups of them reached the land of Abyssinia. Then Allah established them in Medina after that and made it a place of migration for them, and He made for them Helpers (Ansar) from the believers. "And the reward of the Hereafter is greater." He said: Meaning, yes, by Allah, because of that with which He will reward them from His Paradise and His bounty, it is greater, "if they only knew" (1).
12519 - From Aban ibn Taghlib, he said: Al-Rabi ibn Khuthaym used to read this phrase in [Surah] al-Nahl: "And those who migrated for the sake of Allah after they were wronged, We will surely settle them in the world with good." And he would read in [Surah] al-Ankabut: "We will settle them in Paradise in chambers," and he would say: "Settling (al-tanabbu') is in the world, and dwelling (al-thawa') is in the Hereafter" (2).
12520 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "We will surely settle them in the world with good," he said: We will surely provide them with good provision in the world (3).
12521 - From Ibn Abbas, he said: When Allah sent Muhammad as a messenger, the Arabs denied that. And those among them who denied said: "Allah is too great for His messenger to be a human like Muhammad." So Allah revealed: "Is it a wonder to the people that We revealed to a man among them?" And He said: "And We did not send before you except men to whom We revealed, so ask the people of the Reminder if you do not know." Meaning, ask the people of the Reminder and the past scriptures: Were the messengers who came to them human or angels? If they were angels, then let them come to you; and if they were human, then do not deny that he should be a messenger. Then He said: "And We did not send before you except men to whom We revealed from the people of the cities," meaning they were not from the inhabitants of the heaven as you claimed.
12522 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "Or that He would seize them in their alternation," he said: If I willed, I would seize him during his travel. And regarding His saying: "Or that He would seize them with fear," he says: If I willed, I would seize him after the death of his companion, and he would be terrified by that.
12523 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Or that He would seize them in their alternation," he said: In their travels (4).
12524 - From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "Or that He would seize them in their alternation," meaning in whatever state

١٢٥١٨ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَالَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا فِي اللَّهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا قَالَ: هؤلاء أصحاب مُحَمَّد، ظلمهم أَهْل مكة فأخرجوهم مِنْ ديارهم، حتي لحق طوائف منهم بأرض الحبشة، ثُمَّ بوأهم الله المدينة بعد ذَلِكَ فجعلها لَهُمْ دار هجرة، وجعل لَهُمْ أنصاراً مِنَ المؤمنين وَلاجْرُ الآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ قَالَ: أي والله لما يثيبهم عليه مِنْ جنته ونعمته أَكْبَرُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ «١» .
١٢٥١٩ - عَنْ أَبَانٌ بْنُ تَغْلِبَ قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّبِيعِ بْنُ خثيم يقرأ هَذَا الحرف في النحل وَالَّذِينَ هَاجَرُوا فِي اللَّهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً. ويقرأ في العنكبوت لنثوينهم مِنَ الْجَنَّة غرفا ويقول: التنبؤ في الدُّنْيَا والثواء في الآخرة «٢»
١٢٥٢٠ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً قَالَ: لنرزقنهم في الدُّنْيَا رزقًا حسنًا «٣» .
١٢٥٢١ - عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: لَمَّا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ محمدًا رسولًا أنكرت العَرَب ذَلِكَ، ومن أنكر مِنْهُمُ قَالُوا: اللَّهُ أَعْظَمُ مِنَ انَّ يَكُونَ رسوله بشرًا مثل محمد فأنزل الله أَكَانَ لِلنَّاسِ عَجَبًا أَنْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالَ وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ إِلا رِجَالًا نُوحِي إليهم فسئلوا أَهْل الذِّكْرِ إِنَّ كُنْتُمْ لا تَعْلَمُونَ يَعْنِي فاسألوا أَهْل الذكر والكتب الماضية: أبشرًا كَانَتِ الرُّسِل الذين أتتهم أم ملائكة؟ فإن كانوا ملائكة أتتكم وإن كانوا بشرًا فلا تنكروا إِنَّ يكون رسولا. ثُمَّ قَالَ: وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ من أهل القرى أَيْ لَيْسُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ كَمَا قُلْتُمْ.
١٢٥٢٢ - عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِي تَقَلُّبِهِمْ قَالَ: إِنَّ شئت أخذته في سفره. وفي قوله: أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ عَلَى تَخَوُّفٍ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ شئت أخذته عَلَى أثر موت صاحبه، وتخوف بِذَلِكَ.
١٢٥٢٣ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِي تَقَلُّبِهِمْ قَالَ: في أسفارهم «٤» .
١٢٥٢٤ - عَنْ الضحاك فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَوْ يَأْخُذَهُمْ فِي تَقَلُّبِهِمْ يَعْنِي عَلَى أي حال
