Translation · EN

12564 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Ask the People of the Reminder," he said: It was revealed regarding Abdullah ibn Salam and a group of the people of the Torah, who were people of Scripture. He says: Ask them if you do not know. A man would pray, fast, perform Hajj, and perform Umrah, yet he would be a hypocrite. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, by what did hypocrisy enter upon him? He said: He speaks ill of his leader, and his leader is the one whom Allah said in His Book: "Ask the People of the Reminder, if you do not know" (1).

12565 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "With clear proofs," he said: The signs. "And the written scriptures," he said: The books (2).

12566 - From al-Suddi from his companions regarding His saying: "With clear proofs and the written scriptures," he said: The clear proofs are the lawful and the unlawful that the prophets used to bring. And the written scriptures are the books of the prophets. And "We have revealed to you the Reminder [the Quran]," he said: It is the Quran (3).

12567 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "So that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them," he said: What was made lawful for them and what was made unlawful for them (4).

12567 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "So that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them," he said: Allah sent it to them so that by it, He might establish the argument against them (5).

12568 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Have those who planned evil deeds felt secure," i.e., polytheism (6).

From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "Have those who planned evil deeds felt secure," he said: Their denial of the messengers and their acts of disobedience (7).

His saying, the Almighty: "Or that He would seize them in their roaming [during their journeys]"

12568 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "Or that He would seize them in their roaming," he said: In their disagreements (8).

His saying, the Almighty: "And your Lord inspired to the bee"

12569 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And your Lord inspired to the bee," he said: He inspired it [gave it instinct] (9).

12570 - From al-Hasan, he said: The bee is a creature smaller than the locust, and His inspiration to it is that He cast [knowledge] into its heart (10).
