And He guides whom He wills, meaning the Muslims. "And you will surely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about what you used to do." Then He struck another parable for the one who breaks the covenant, saying: "And do not take your oaths," meaning the covenant, "as a deception between you, lest a foot slip after it was firm," he says: The one who breaks the covenant slips in his religion just as a man’s foot slips after being stable. "And taste the evil for having averted [people] from the way of Allah," meaning the punishment. "And do not exchange the covenant of Allah for a small price," meaning a trifling worldly benefit. "Indeed, that which is with Allah," meaning the reward, "is better for you," meaning more excellent for you than the fleeting [worldly life]. "Whatever you have will end," meaning the wealth that you possess will perish, "but what is with Allah is lasting," meaning the reward with Allah in the Hereafter is permanent and does not cease for its people. "And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do" in the worldly life, and He will forgive their evil deeds.
His saying, the Almighty: "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female."
12648 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, that he was asked about this verse: "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life." He said: The good life is the lawful provision in this worldly life. And when he returns to his Lord, He will reward him with the best of what he used to do.
His saying, the Almighty: "A good life."
12649 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding His saying: "A good life," he said: Lawful earnings and righteous deeds.
12650 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding His saying: "A good life," he said: Happiness.
12651 - From Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with both of them, regarding His saying: "We will surely cause him to live a good life," he said: Contentment. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to supplicate: "O Allah, make me content with what You have provided for me, bless it for me, and compensate every absence I have with something better."
12652 - From al-Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "A good life," he said: Life will not be pleasant for anyone except in Paradise.
