His saying, the Almighty: "So when you read the Qur'an, seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the expelled [from mercy]."

12653 - From Ibn Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "So when you read the Qur'an, seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the expelled," he said: This is a guidance from Allah that He pointed out to His servants.

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord. His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who associate others with Him."

12654 - From Sufyan al-Thawri regarding His saying: "Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed," he said: He has no authority to compel them into a sin that will not be forgiven for them.

12655 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "His authority is only over those who take him as an ally," he said: His argument [is] over those who take him as an ally, "and those who associate others with Him," he said: They equate him with the Lord of the worlds.

12656 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "His authority is only over those who take him as an ally," he says: The authority of Satan is over whoever takes Satan as an ally and acts in disobedience to Allah.

12657 - From al-Rabi' ibn Anas regarding the verse, he said: Indeed, the enemy of Allah, Iblis, when wretchedness overcame him, said: "I will surely mislead them all, except Your servants among them who are sincere." These are the ones over whom He gave no way for Satan, and his authority is only over a people who took him as an ally and therefore associated him with their deeds.

12658 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse," he said: It is like His saying: "We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten."

12659 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse," he said: This is regarding the abrogating and the abrogated [verses]. He said: When We abrogate a verse and bring another in its place, they say: "What is the matter with you?" I say: "Such and such," then you revoke it—you are fabricating. Allah says: "And Allah is most knowing of what He sends down."
