12676 - From Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "He has only forbidden to you dead animals," he said: "Indeed, Islam is a pure religion. Allah has purified it from every evil and has made for you in it, O son of Adam, capacity when you are forced into something of that."

His saying, the Almighty: "And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, 'This is lawful and this is unlawful'"

12677 - From Mujahid, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His saying: "And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, 'This is lawful and this is unlawful,'" he said: "It refers to the bahirah (a she-camel whose milk was reserved for idols) and the sa'ibah (a she-camel set free for idols)."

12678 - From Abu Nadrah, he said: I read this verse in Surah an-Nahl: "And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, 'This is lawful and this is unlawful'" to the end of the verse; and I have not ceased to fear giving a legal opinion (fatwa) until this day of mine.

His saying, the Almighty: "And to those who are Jews, We have prohibited that which We have related to you."

12679 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "And to those who are Jews, We have prohibited that which We have related to you before," he said: "What Allah has related its mention in Surah al-An'am, where He says: 'And to those who are Jews, We prohibited every animal of undivided hoof' ... to His saying: 'And indeed, We are truthful.'"

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader, devoutly obedient to Allah"

12680 - From Ibn Mas'ud that he was asked: "What is the ummah (leader/comprehensive guide)?" He said: "The one who teaches people goodness." They said: "What is the qanit (devoutly obedient)?" He said: "The one who obeys Allah and His Messenger."

12681 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Indeed, Abraham was a leader, devoutly obedient to Allah," he said: "He was upon Islam, and there was no one in his time among his people who was upon Islam other than him, and that is why Allah said: 'He was a leader, devoutly obedient to Allah.'"

12682 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "Indeed, Abraham was a leader," he said: "He was a believer alone while all people were disbelievers."

12683 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Indeed, Abraham was a leader," he said: "A leader of guidance who is followed, and his sunnah is followed."
