he said: 'Grief for them.' Allah forbade His Prophet from grieving over the people because of their sins.
His saying: "Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it."
12701 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it," he said: "Anything that is upon it."
12702 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it," he said: "Men."
12703 - From al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it," he said: "They are the men who are worshippers, who work for Allah through obedience."
His saying: "That We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed."
12704 - From Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited this verse: "That We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed." I said: 'What is the meaning of that, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: "To test you as to which of you is most sound in intellect, most abstinent from the forbidden things of Allah, and most quick of you in the obedience of Allah."
12705 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "That We may test them," he said: "To test them [as to] which of them is best in deed," he said: "Which of them is most perfect in intellect."
12706 - From al-Hasan regarding His saying: "That We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed," he said: "Those of them who are most intense in abandoning the worldly life."
12707 - From Sufyan al-Thawri regarding His saying: "That We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed," he said: "Those who are most ascetic regarding the worldly life."
His saying: "A desolate ground."
12708 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "A desolate ground," he said: "The 'sa'id' is the earth. And the 'juruz' is that which has no plants in it."
