His saying, the Almighty: "And she closed the doors and said, 'Come, you'"
[The first interpretation]
11460 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying] Ahmad ibn Bashir narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from his companions, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas that he used to recite it as 'Abd Allah used to recite it, meaning: Hayta laka (Come, you), and it is like one of you saying to his companion: 'Halumma laka' (Come to you).
11461 - My father narrated to us, [saying] Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, [saying] Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "Hayta laka": [meaning] Halumma laka (Come to you).
11462 - It was mentioned from Salamah ibn Sabur, from 'Atiyyah, from Ibn 'Abbas, [regarding] "Hayta laka," he said: "Halumma laka" (Come to you) in the Coptic language.
11463 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' narrated to us, [saying] Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid, [regarding] "Hayta laka," he said: She exposed herself and invited him to herself; and it is a linguistic expression.
11464 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, [saying] Shababah narrated to us, [saying] Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Hayta laka" is an Arabic linguistic expression by which she invited him.
11465 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, [saying] 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, [saying] al-Thawri informed us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Wa'il, he said: 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud said: I have heard the recitation, and I found them to be close to each other, so recite as you have been taught, and beware of affectation and disagreement; for it is only like one of you saying: 'Halumma' (come here) and 'Ta'al' (come here). Then 'Abd Allah recited: "Hayta laka." He said: I said, "O Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, some people recite it 'Hi'tu laka' (I am prepared for you)." 'Abd Allah said: "That I recite it as I have been taught is more beloved to me."
[The second interpretation]
11466 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying] Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, [saying] Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, [regarding] "Hi'tu laka," he said: I have prepared myself for you, and he used to recite it with a hamzah: "Hi'tu laka." It was narrated from 'Ikrimah similarly.
