His saying: "And they remained in their cave"
12765 - From Qatadah, he said concerning the recitation of Ibn Mas'ud: "And they said, they remained in their cave..." the verse, meaning it was merely what the people said. Do you not see that He said: 'Say, Allah is most knowing of how long they remained.'
12766 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: 'And they remained in their cave for three hundred years and added nine,' he said: "This is the saying of the People of the Book, so Allah refuted them: 'Say, Allah is most knowing of how long they remained.'"
His saying: "For three hundred years and added nine"
12767 - From al-Dahhak, he said: "When this verse '...in their cave for three hundred...' was revealed, it was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, is it days, months, or years?' So Allah revealed: '...years and added nine.'"
12768 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: 'For three hundred years and added nine,' he says: "The number of how long they remained."

12769 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: 'How seeing is He and how hearing!' he said: "There is no one more seeing than Allah, nor more hearing, Blessed and Exalted is He."
His saying: "A refuge"
12770 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: 'A refuge' (multahadan), he said: "A place of shelter."
His saying: "And keep yourself patient with those who call upon their Lord"
12771 - From the path of 'Umar ibn Dharr, from his father: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came upon a group of his companions—among them was 'Abdullah ibn Rawahah—remembering Allah. When 'Abdullah saw him, he fell silent. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to him: 'Continue reminding your companions.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you are more entitled.' He said: 'Verily, you are the assembly whom Allah has commanded me to keep myself patient with,' then he recited: 'And keep yourself patient...' the verse."
