His saying: "A servant from among Our servants."
12879 - From Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: "He was only named Al-Khidr because he sat on a white patch of earth, and it shook with green verdure behind him."
His saying: "And there was under it a treasure for them both."
12880 - From Abu Dharr, attributing it to the Prophet, he said: "The treasure which Allah mentioned in His Book was a tablet of gold, inscribed: I am amazed at one who is certain of the Decree and yet exerts himself, and I am amazed at one who remembers the Fire and yet laughs, and I am amazed at one who remembers death and yet remains heedless. There is no god but Allah... Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
12881 - From Ibn Abbas regarding "And there was under it a treasure for them both," he said: "It was not gold or silver; it was pages [scrolls] upon which were written..."
His saying: "And his father was a righteous man."
From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "And his father was a righteous man," he said: "He used to render trusts and deposits to their rightful owners."
12882 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And his father was a righteous man," he said: "Righteousness was preserved for their father, and nothing was mentioned about them except their righteousness."
12883 - From Ibn Abbas, he said: "Indeed, Allah makes righteous the children and grandchildren of a righteous man, and He protects him in his offspring and the small dwellings around him, so they remain in a state of protection and well-being from Allah."
His saying: "I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas."
12884 - From Ibn Zayd regarding His saying: "I will not give up until I reach the junction of the two seas," he said: "Until I arrive."
12885 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "The junction of the two seas," he said: "The sea of Persia and Byzantium [the Mediterranean]; they are the sea of the East and the West."
12886 - From Ubayy ibn Ka'b regarding His saying: "The junction of the two seas," he said: "Ifriqiya [North Africa]."
