Translation · EN

His saying: "Those whose eyes were under a veil from My remembrance, and they could not bear to hear."

12994 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Those whose eyes were under a veil from My remembrance, and they could not bear to hear," he said: "They were blind to the truth, so they did not see it, and deaf to it, so they did not hear it."

12995 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "They could not bear to hear," he said: "They do not comprehend what they hear."

His saying: "Do the disbelievers think..."

12996 - From Qatadah regarding His saying: "Do the disbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors instead of Me?" he said: "The disbelievers among the children of Adam thought that they could take the angels as protectors instead of Him."

12997 - From 'Ikrimah, that he recited: "Do the disbelievers think," saying: "Does that thinking of theirs suffice them?"

His saying: "Say: Shall We inform you of the greatest losers in respect of their deeds?"

12998 - By way of Mus'ab b. Sa'd, he said: I asked my father, "'Say: Shall We inform you of the greatest losers in respect of their deeds?' Are they the Haruriyyah?" He said: "No, they are the Jews and the Christians. As for the Jews, they lied against Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). As for the Christians, they lied about Paradise, saying: 'There is no food or drink in it.' And the Haruriyyah are those who break the covenant of Allah after its ratification." And Sa'd used to call them the defiantly disobedient (al-fasiqin).

12999 - From Mus'ab, he said: I said to my father, "'Say: Shall We inform you of the greatest losers in respect of their deeds?' Are they the Haruriyyah?" He said: "No, rather they are the people of the hermitages (monasteries), and the Haruriyyah are a people who deviated, so Allah caused their hearts to deviate."
