13150 - From Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And We raised him to a high station," he said: He was raised to the sixth heaven, where he died.

With a hasan (good) chain of narration, from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: Idris is Ilyas (Elijah).

13151 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "and We chose," he said: We purified.

13152 - From 'Umar ibn al-Khattab: That he read Surat Maryam then prostrated, and then said: "This is the prostration, but where is the weeping?"

13153 - From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "But there came after them a generation," he said: They are the Jews and the Christians.

13154 - From Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi regarding His saying: "who neglected prayer," he says: They abandoned the prayer.

13155 - From al-Qasim ibn Mukhaymirah regarding His saying: "who neglected prayer," he said: They delayed the prayer beyond its proper time; had they abandoned it completely, they would have become disbelievers.

13156 - From 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz regarding His saying: "who neglected prayer," he said: Their neglect was not abandoning it entirely, but they neglected its proper times.

13157 - From Ka'b, he said: By Allah, I find the description of the hypocrites in the Torah: they are heavy drinkers of beverages, quick to follow desires, constant cursers of their own fates, sleepers through the night prayers, neglectful in the early mornings, abandoners of the prayers, and abandoners of the Friday prayers. Then he recited this verse: "But there came after them a generation who neglected prayer and followed desires."

13158 - From Ibn al-Ash'ath, he said: Allah revealed to David (peace be upon him): Indeed, hearts attached to the desires of the world are veiled from Me.

13159 - From Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) recite this verse: "But there came after them a generation," and he said: There will come a generation after sixty years who have "neglected prayer and followed desires, so they will meet evil." Then another generation will come who read the Quran, but it does not go beyond their throats. And the Quran is read by three: a believer, a hypocrite, and a wicked person.
