13382 - From Qatadah regarding "We have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressed," he says: "O man, we have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressed." No, by Allah, Allah did not make him distressed, but Allah made it a mercy, a light, and a guide to Paradise, and a reminder for whoever fears. He said: "Indeed, Allah sent down His Book and sent His messengers as a mercy, through which He showed mercy so that the one who remembers may remember and a man may benefit from what he heard from the Book of Allah. It is a reminder that Allah sent down, containing His lawful and unlawful matters."
The Saying of the Exalted: "And whatever is under the soil."
13383 - From Muhammad ibn Ka'b: "And whatever is under the soil" means what is beneath the seven earths.
13384 - From al-Suddi: "And whatever is under the soil," he said: "It is the rock that is beneath the seventh earth, and it is green. It is Sijjin, in which is the register of the disbelievers."
13385 - From Abu 'Ubayd Allah ibn akhi Ibn Wahb, my uncle narrated to me, narrated to me 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas, narrated to me 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman, from Darraj, from 'Isa ibn Hilal al-Sadafi, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The earths, between every earth and the one next to it, is a journey of five hundred years. The highest of them is upon the back of a whale whose two ends have met in the sky. The whale is upon a rock, and the rock is in the hand of an angel. The second is the prison of the wind. The third contains the stones of Hell. The fourth contains the sulfur of Hell. The fifth contains the snakes of Hell. The sixth contains the scorpions of Hell. The seventh contains Saqar, and in it is Iblis, shackled in iron, with one hand in front of him and one behind him. When Allah wishes to release him for whatever He wills, He releases him."
13386 - From al-Dahhak, he said: "The soil (al-thara) is whatever is dug up from the earth while it is moist."
The Saying of the Exalted: "He knows the secret and what is even more hidden."
13387 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "He knows the secret and what is even more hidden," he said: "The secret is what the son of Adam conceals within himself, and the more hidden is what is hidden from the son of Adam of that which he is going to do before he knows it, for He knows all of that. So His knowledge regarding that which has passed and that which remains is one knowledge. All creatures are to Him in that regard like a single soul, and it is like His saying: 'Your creation and your resurrection will not be but as that of a single soul.'"
