13412 - From 'Amr ibn Maymun who said: 'Al-hash' (shaking) is the staff between the two branches; he does not move it until the leaves fall. 'Al-khabt' (beating) is that he beats until the leaves fall.
13413 - Malik ibn Anas narrated to us, saying: 'Al-hash' is that a man places the hook-end (mihjan) on a branch, then shakes it until its leaves and fruits fall without breaking the twig. This is 'al-hash', and it is not 'al-khabt'.

The Saying of the Exalted: "So he threw it down, and suddenly it was a snake, moving swiftly."
13417 - From Ibn 'Abbas: "So he threw it down, and suddenly it was a snake, moving swiftly." It was not a snake before that. It passed by a tree and ate it, and passed by a rock and swallowed it. Moses began to hear the sound of the rock inside its belly. He turned to flee, and it was called out to him: "O Moses, take it!" He did not take it. Then it was called out the second time: "Take it and do not fear." It was said to him the third time: "Indeed, you are of the secure," so he took it.
