Gabriel used to descend upon him with the Qur'an, and he would tire himself in memorizing it, to the point that it became difficult for him, fearing that Gabriel would ascend before he had memorized it, and thus he would forget what he had learned. So Allah said: "And do not hasten with the Qur'an before its revelation is completed to you," meaning: Do not move your tongue with it to hasten it.
13544 - From al-Hasan, he said: A man slapped his wife, so she came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) seeking legal retribution (qisas). The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) established the retribution between them, then Allah revealed: "And do not hasten with the Qur'an before its revelation is completed to you, and say: 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'" The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) refrained until it was revealed: "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women."
13545 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And do not hasten with the Qur'an," he said: Do not recite it to anyone until We complete it for you.
The Saying of the Exalted: "And he forgot."
13546 - From Ahmad ibn Sinan, he narrated: Asbat ibn Muhammad narrated: al-A'mash narrated, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: Human (al-insan) was only named so because a covenant was made with him, and he forgot.
13547 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "And he forgot," he said: He abandoned. And regarding "And We did not find for him any determination," he said: We did not find for him any resolve.
13548 - From 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr, he said: Adam was not among those of determination (ulu al-'azm).
13549 - From al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And he forgot," he said: He abandoned what had been set before him. If it were a case of forgetting, there would be nothing upon him, for Allah has lifted forgetfulness and errors from the believers; however, Adam abandoned what had been set before him regarding the eating from the tree.
13550 - From Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Anas ibn 'Iyad informed me, from al-Harith ibn Abi Dhubab, from Yazid ibn Hurmuz, he said: I heard Abu Hurayrah say: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: Adam and Moses debated before their Lord, and Adam defeated Moses in argument. Moses said: "You are the one whom Allah created with His hand, breathed into you from His spirit, caused the angels to prostrate to you, and settled you in His paradise, then caused people to descend to the earth because of your sin." Adam said: "You are Moses, whom Allah chose..."

أنزل عليه جبريل بالقرآن أتعب نفسه في حفظه حتي يشق على نفسه يتخوف إِنَّ يصعد جبريل ولم يحفظه فينسي مَا علمه فقال الله: وَلا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ إِنَّ يُقَضَى إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ قَالَ: لا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ
«١» .
١٣٥٤٤ - عَنْ الحسن قَالَ: لطم رجل امرأته: فجاءت إِلَى النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تطلب قصاصا، فجعل النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بينهما القصاص، فأنزل الله وَلا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ إِنَّ يُقْضَى إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ وَقُلْ رب زدني علما فوقف النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حتي نَزَلَتْ الرِّجَالُ قَوَّامُونَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ «٢» .
١٣٥٤٥ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ قَالَ: لا تمله على أحد حتي نتمه لك «٣» .
قوله تَعَالَى: فَنَسِيَ
١٣٥٤٦ - عَنْ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ثنا الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قال: إنما سمي الإنسان، لأنه عهد إليه فنسي «٤» .
١٣٥٤٧ - عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما في قَوْلِهِ: فَنَسِيَ قَالَ: فترك وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ عَزْمًا قَالَ: لَمْ نجعل لَهُ عزما «٥» .
١٣٥٤٨ - عَنْ عبيد بن عمير قَالَ: لَمْ يكن آدم مِنَ أولي العزم «٦» .
١٣٥٤٩ - عَنِ الحَسَنِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَنَسِيَ قَالَ: ترك مَا قدم إليه ولو كَانَ منه نسيان مَا كَانَ عليه شيء، لأن الله قد وضع، عَنِ المؤمنين النسيان والأخطاء ولكن آدم ترك مَا قدم إليه مِنَ أكل الشجرة «٧» .
١٣٥٥٠ - عَنْ يونس بن عَبْد الأعلى أخبرنا ابن وهبا أخبرني أنس بن عياض، عَنِ الحَارِث بن أَبِي ذباب، عَنْ يَزِيد بن هرمز قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: حج آدم وموسى عند ربهما فحج آدم موسى قَالَ: موسى أنت الّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللَّهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ وأسجد لك الملائكة وأسكنك في جنته ثُمَّ أهبط الناس إِلَى الأَرْض بخطيئتك قَالَ آدم: أنت موسى الّذِي اصطفاك الله
