forty years prior." Adam said: "Did you find in it: 'And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred'?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then do you blame me for having done a deed that Allah had written for me to do forty years before He created me?" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Thus Adam defeated Moses in argument."

13551 - From Ja'far, from 'Awn, he narrated: Sufyan narrated, from Ibn Abi Layla, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "And they began to fasten upon themselves from the leaves of Paradise," he said: They were plucking the fig leaves and placing them upon their private parts.

13552 - From al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "So let him not bring you both out of Paradise, so you would be distressed," he said: He meant the distress of the worldly life. You shall not encounter a son of Adam except that he is distressed and toiling.

13556 - From Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah, he said: He did not say 'so you both would be distressed' (tashqaya, dual), because she entered [the command] with him, so the meaning fell upon them both and upon their descendants, like His saying: "O Prophet, when you (plural) divorce..." and "O Prophet, why do you forbid that which Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the pleasure of your wives? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Allah has already ordained for you (plural) the dissolution of your oaths." So they entered into the meaning with him, even though only the Prophet was addressed.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein nor to be uncovered."

13557 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein nor to be uncovered," he said: Neither thirst nor heat shall afflict you therein.

13558 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "You not be hungry," he said: You shall not be thirsty. "Nor to be uncovered," he said: Heat shall not afflict you therein.

13559 - From 'Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "Nor to be uncovered," he said: The heat of the sun shall not afflict you.

13560 - From Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), he said: "Indeed, there is a tree in Paradise; a rider travels in its shade for a hundred years without finishing it. It is the tree of eternity."

His saying, the Exalted: "So whoever follows My guidance."
