Translation · EN

'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, who said regarding the saying of Allah: "This is not a human being," he said: Human beings are not like this. Thus, it was acknowledged for them.

His saying, the Exalted: "This is but a noble angel"

11565 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir informed us, Sa'id ibn Bashir informed us, from someone other than Qatadah: "This is but a noble angel," meaning: due to his beauty.

11566 - Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed us, in what he wrote to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding "This is but a noble angel," he said: They said: He is one of the angels.

His saying, the Exalted: "She said, 'This is he about whom you blamed me'"

11567 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Husayn narrated to me, Hisham ibn 'Ubayd Allah al-Razi narrated to us, Yahya ibn al-'Ala' narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, he said: "And she prepared a cushion for them." He said: When they had eaten lunch and were at ease, she said to her attendant: "Bring them citron and knives." So she brought them to them, and they began to cut and eat. Then she said to them: "Do you want to look at Yusuf?" They said: "As you wish." So she ordered her attendant, and he brought him in to them. When they saw him, they began to cut their fingers along with the citron while they were unaware, not feeling any pain because of what they saw of his beauty. When he turned away from them, she said: "This is the one about whom you blamed me, for I have seen you cutting your hands while you were unaware." He said: They looked at their hands and began to cry out and weep. She said: "So what shall I do?" They said: "Exalted be Allah! This is not a human being; this is but a noble angel. And we do not see any blame upon you after what we have seen."

11568 - 'Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: She said to Yusuf: "Go out before them." When he went out, the women saw Yusuf and began to cut the citron, saying: "Exalted be Allah! This is not a human being; this is but a noble angel." She said: "This is he about whom you blamed me."

His saying, the Exalted: "And I did indeed seek to seduce him, but he refused"

11569 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "But he refused," he says: He abstained.

11570 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "But he refused," i.e., he resisted."

عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: مَا هَذَا بَشَرًا قَالَ: مَا هَكَذَا يَكُونُ الْبَشَرُ، فَأُقِرَّتْ لَهُنَّ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنْ هَذَا إِلا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ

١١٥٦٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، أنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، أنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ غَيْرِ قَتَادَةَ: إِنْ هَذَا إِلا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ أَيْ: مِنْ حُسْنِهِ.

١١٥٦٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الطِّهْرَانِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أنا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ إِنْ هَذَا إِلا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ قَالَ: قُلْنَ مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالَتْ فَذَلِكُنَّ الَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيهِ

١١٥٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّازِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْعَلاءِ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ قَالَ: وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَأً قَالَ: لَمَّا تَغَدَّيْنَ، وَطَابَتْ أَنْفُسُهُنَّ، قَالَتْ لِقَيِّمِهَا، ايِتِهُنَّ تُرُنْجًا وَسَكَاكِينَا، فَأَتَاهُنَّ بِهِنَّ فَجَعَلْنَ يُقَطِّعْنَ وَيَأْكُلْنَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُنَّ: هَلْ لَكُنَّ فِي النَّظَرِ إِلَى يُوسُفَ؟ قُلْنَ مَا شِئْتِ فَأَمَرَتْ قَيِّمَهَا فَأَدْخَلَهُ عَلَيْهِنَّ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُ جَعَلْنَ يُقَطِّعْنَ أَصَابِعْهُنَّ مَعَ الأُتْرُنْجِ، وَهُنَّ لَا يَشْعُرْنَ، وَلا يَجِدْنَ أَلَمًا مِمَّا رَأَيْنَ مِنْ حُسْنِهِ، فَلَمَّا وَلَّى عَنْهُنَّ قَالَتْ: هَذَا الَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيهِ، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُكُنَّ تُقَطِّعْنَ أَيْدِيَكُنَّ وَمَا تَشْعُرْنَ، قَالَ: فَنَظَرْنَ إِلَى أَيْدِيهِنَّ فَجَعَلْنَ يَصِحْنَ وَيَبْكِينَ قَالَتْ: فَكَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ أَنَا؟ فَقُلْنَ: حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَذَا بَشَرًا، إِنْ هَذَا إِلا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ وَمَا نَرَى عَلَيْكِ مِنْ لَوْمٍ بَعْدَ الَّذِي رَأَيْنَا.

١١٥٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ، ثنا عَامِرٌ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنْ السُّدِّيِّ: وَقَالَتْ لِيُوسُفَ اخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ رَأَى النِّسْوَةُ يُوسُفَ، فَجَعَلْنَ يُقَطِّعْنَ الأُتْرُنْجَ قُلْنَ حَاشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَذَا إِلا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ قَالَتْ فَذَلِكُنَّ الَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيهِ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدْتُهُ، عَنْ نَفْسِهِ فَاسْتَعْصَمَ

١١٥٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عن ابن عَبَّاسٍ، قَوْلُهُ: فَاسْتَعْصَمَ يَقُولُ: فَامْتَنَعَ.

١١٥٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَوْلُهُ: فَاسْتَعْصَمَ أَيْ فَاسْتَعْصَى.
