Translation · EN

11571 - 'Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, regarding "And I did indeed seek to seduce him, but he refused," after he had already loosened his trousers, then I do not know what occurred to him.

His saying, the Exalted: "And if he does not do what I order him, he will surely be imprisoned and will be of those who are humiliated."

11572 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "The humiliated" (al-saghirin), meaning: disgraced.

His saying, the Exalted: "He said, 'My Lord, prison is dearer to me than that to which they invite me.'"

11573 - 'Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: Yusuf said: "My Lord, prison is dearer to me than that to which they invite me," meaning: confinement is dearer to me than that to which they invite me, which is adultery.

11574 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Thalj narrated to us, Sunayd narrated to us, he said: Ibn 'Uyaynah said: A person is only granted success in supplication for what is decreed. Do you not see that Yusuf said: "My Lord, prison is dearer to me," then when he said: "Mention me to your master," Jibril came to him and uncovered for him the rock, and said: "What do you see?" He said: "I see an ant chewing." He said: "He says: I did not forget this, so should I forget you? I imprisoned you, you said: 'My Lord, prison is dearer to me,' so I will prolong your imprisonment."

11575 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq regarding: "And will be of those who are humiliated," Yusuf said: He invoked his Lord and sought His help against what had befallen him: "My Lord, prison is dearer to me than that to which they invite me," meaning: prison is dearer to me than committing what You dislike.

His saying, the Exalted: "And if You do not turn away from me their plot"

11576 - And by the same chain, from Ishaq: "And if You do not turn away from me their plot," meaning: what I fear from them.

11577 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding His saying: "And if You do not turn away from me their plot," if the strength and immunity do not come from You, it will not come from me nor will it be in my possession.

His saying: "I will incline towards them"

11578 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "I will incline towards them" (asbu ilayhinna), he says: I will follow them.

١١٥٧١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ، ثنا عَامِرٌ، عَنْ أَسْبَاطٍ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدَتْهُ، عَنْ نَفْسِهِ فَاسْتَعْصَمَ بَعْدَ مَا كَانَ قَدْ حَلَّ سَرَاوِيلَهُ، ثُمَّ لَا أَدْرِي مَا بَدَا لَهُ

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَئِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ مَا آمُرَهُ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُونًا مِنَ الصاغرين

١١٥٧٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ الله: الصاغرين يَعْنِي: مُذَلِّينَ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالَ رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ

١١٥٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ، ثنا عَامِرٌ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَالَ يُوسُفُ: رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَى مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ يَقُولُ: الْحَبْسُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الزِّنَا.

١١٥٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو الثَّلْجِ، ثنا سُنَيْدٌ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ: إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّقُ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ لِلِمَقْدُورِ، أَمَا تَرَى يُوسُفَ قَالَ: رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ فَلَمَّا قَالَ:

اذْكُرْنِي عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ أَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ فَكَشَفَ لَهُ، عَنِ الصَّخْرَةِ، فَقَالَ: مَا تَرَى؟ قَالَ: أَرَى نَمْلَةً تَقْضِمُ قَالَ: يَقُولُ: أَنَا لَمْ أَنَسَ هَذِهِ أَنْسَاكَ؟ أَنَا حَبَسْتُكَ، أَنْتَ قُلْتَ: رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ لأُطِيلَنَّ حَبْسَكَ.

١١٥٧٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ: ليكونا مِنَ الصَّاغِرِينَ قَالَ يُوسُفُ: أَضَافَ إِلَى رَبِّهِ وَاسْتَعَانَهُ عَلَى مَا نَزَلَ بِهِ رَبِّ السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِي إِلَيْهِ أَيِ: السِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ آتِيَ مَا تَكْرَهُ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِلا تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ

١١٥٧٦ - وَبِهِ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ وَإِلا تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ أَيْ: مَا أَتَخَوَّفُ مِنْهُنَّ

١١٥٧٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أنا أَصْبَغُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ: عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِلا تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُنَّ إِلا يَكُنْ مِنْكَ أَنْتَ الْقُوَى وَالْمَنَعَةُ، لَا يَكُنْ مِنِّي وَلا عِنْدِي.

قَوْلُهُ: أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ

١١٥٧٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا شعيب بن إسحاق، ثنا سعيد ابن أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ يقول: أتبعهن.
