Translation · EN

11586 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "Then it appeared to them after they had seen the signs," the signs that clarified his innocence from what he was accused of, such as his shirt being torn from the back and other things.

His saying, the Exalted: "They will surely imprison him."

11587 - My father narrated to us, Mansur ibn Abi Muzahim narrated to us, Abu Sa'id ibn Abi al-Waddah narrated to us, from Khusayf, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: Yusuf was punished three times; as for the first time, it was by imprisonment, due to what he had intended regarding her.

11588 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim al-San'ani narrated to us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil, the nephew of Wahb ibn Munabbih, narrated to me, he said: I heard my uncle, Wahb ibn Munabbih, say: When Gabriel came to Yusuf with the good tidings while he was in prison, he said: "Do you recognize me, O truthful one?" He said: "I see a pure image and a pleasant spirit that does not resemble the spirits of sinners." He said: "I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds, and I am the Trustworthy Spirit." He said: "Then what has brought you into the place of sinners while you are the purest of the pure, the chief of those brought near, and the trusted one of the Lord of the worlds?" He said: "Do you not know, O Yusuf, that Allah purifies houses through the purity of the prophets, and that the land they enter is the purest of lands, and that Allah has purified the prison and its surroundings through you? O purest of the pure and son of those who have been purified... it is only through the virtue of your purity and the purity of your chosen ancestors that one is purified." He said: "How can you call me by the names of the truthful ones and count me among the righteous, chosen ones, when I have been brought into the place of sinners and labeled among the misguided and corrupt?" He said: "Grief has not corrupted your heart, slavery has not worn out your honor, and you did not obey your mistress in the disobedience of your Lord. For that, Allah has called you by the names of the truthful, counted you among the chosen, and joined you with your righteous ancestors."

His saying, the Exalted: "Until a time."

'Ikrimah said: "There are 'times' that can be attained, and 'times' that cannot be attained. As for the 'time' that cannot be attained, Allah the Exalted says: 'They will surely imprison him until a time.'"
