His saying, the Exalted: "And the other said: 'Indeed, I saw myself carrying above my head bread, from which the birds were eating.'"
11602 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, he said: And he became angry—meaning the king—with his baker, for it reached him that he had poisoned him, so he imprisoned him, and he imprisoned the cupbearer, thinking that he had colluded with him on the poison. And that is His saying: "And there entered with him in the prison two young men." Yusuf said: "I interpret dreams." So one of the two young men said: "Come, let us test the statement of this Hebrew slave." So they fabricated a vision without having actually seen anything, but they merely guessed. Yusuf then interpreted their fabrication for them; the cupbearer said: "I saw that I was pressing wine," and the baker said: "I saw that I was carrying above my head bread, from which the birds were eating."
11603 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Mu'adh informed us, Mu'tamir narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Mijlaz, he said: One of those who narrated the vision to Yusuf was lying. I said to him: "So the one who was crucified is the liar?" He said: "Yes."
His saying, the Exalted: "Inform us of its interpretation; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good."
11604 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, he said: Mij lath saw that he was carrying above his head bread, from which the birds were eating, and Nabu saw that he was pressing wine. So they sought his interpretation of them and said to him: "Inform us of its interpretation; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good, if you do so."
11605 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Ziyad al-Khayyat narrated to us, Khalaf ibn Khalifah narrated to us, Salamah ibn Nubayt said: I was sitting with al-Dahhak ibn Muzahim in Khurasan when a man came to him and asked him about the saying of Allah: "Inform us of its interpretation; indeed, we see you to be of those who do good." What was his goodness (ihsan)? He said: If a person in the prison fell ill, Yusuf would attend to him; if the place became cramped for him, he would make space for him; and if he was in need, he would ask for him or collect for him.
11606 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, Qatadah narrated regarding His saying: "Indeed, we see you to be of those who do good": He said: His goodness, as it was mentioned to us, was that he used to console those among them who were sad and treat those among them who were ill, and they saw from him worship and diligent effort, so they loved him for his merit.
