Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "He said, 'There shall not come to you food that you are provided with, except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you.'"

11607 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid—a sheikh of his—narrated to us, Rishdin narrated to us, from al-Hasan ibn Thawban, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: I do not know, perhaps Yusuf was one who divined (ya'taf), and he was like that, because I find in the Book of Allah—the Mighty and Majestic—when he said to the two men: "There shall not come to you food that you are provided with, except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you." He said: When the food came to him, sweet or bitter, he would divine at that point and say: "He only knew, so He taught." (1)

11608 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, he said to them—to Mij lath and to Nabu: "There shall not come to you food that you are provided with"—meaning in your dream—"except that I will inform you of its interpretation before it comes to you."

11609 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, he said: Yusuf said: "There shall not come to you food that you are provided with in the dream, except that I will inform you of its interpretation in the waking state."

His saying: "That is from what my Lord has taught me. Indeed, I have abandoned the religion of a people who do not believe in Allah."

11610 - Musa ibn Abi Musa al-Ansari narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "That"—meaning: This.

His saying, the Exalted: "And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Ibrahim, Ishaq, and Ya'qub."

11611 - My father narrated to us, Musa ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, the noble one, son of the noble one, son of the noble one, son of the noble one: is Yusuf, son of Ya'qub, son of Ishaq, son of Ibrahim."
