Volume 7 · Page 58His saying (Exalted is He): 'And in which they will press (juice/oil).'

Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "And in it they will press."

11679 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth narrated to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, [regarding] his saying: "in which the people will be aided and in which they will press," he says: [they will press] grapes and oil.

11680 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn ‘Abbas, [regarding] his saying: "and in it they will press," he says: They will press grapes in it, and they will press oil in it, and they will press from all fruits.

11681 - ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa‘id reported to us, Qatadah narrated to us: "and in it they will press" fruits, grapes, and olives from the abundance. This is knowledge that Allah gave him the knowledge of; it was not [part] of what he was asked about.

11682 - Sulayman ibn Dawud al-Qazzaz narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, al-Faraj ibn Fadalah narrated to us, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding the saying of Allah: "a year in which the people will be aided and in which they will press," he said: They will milk.

11683 - It was mentioned from ‘Abdan al-Marwazi, ‘Isa ibn ‘Ubayd reported to us, I heard ‘Isa ibn ‘Umar al-Thaqafi reading: "in which the people will be aided and in which they will press (ya‘surun)," meaning: the aid (ghiyath) and the rain. Then he read: "And We sent down from the rain-clouds (mu‘sirat) pouring water."

His saying, the Exalted: "And the King said: 'Bring him to me.'"

11684 - ‘Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi: When the messenger came to the King and informed him, he said: "Bring him to me." When the messenger came to him and ordered him to go out to the King, Joseph refused and said: "Return to your lord."

His saying, the Exalted: "When the messenger came to him, he said: 'Return to your lord and ask him what is the case of the women.'"

11685 - My father narrated to us, Musa ibn Isma‘il narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn ‘Amr, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said concerning this verse: "'Return to your lord and ask him what is the case of the women.'" He said: "If it were me, I would have hastened the answer and would not have sought an excuse."
