Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "Except what my Lord has willed. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful."

11705 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar narrated to me regarding His saying: "Forgiving"—for what was from them before repentance, "Merciful"—to them after repentance.

His saying, the Exalted: "And the King said, 'Bring him to me.'"

11706 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq who said: The King, al-Rayyan ibn al-Walid al-Akbar said: "Bring him to me that I may appoint him exclusively for myself."

His saying, the Exalted: "...that I may appoint him exclusively for myself."

11707 - Ahmad ibn ‘Isam al-Ansari narrated to us, Abu ‘Asim narrated to us, Sufyan al-Thawri reported to us, from Abu Sinan, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Hudhayl, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding the saying of Allah: "Bring him to me that I may appoint him exclusively for myself." He said: The King said to Joseph: "I would like for you to mingle with me in everything except my family, and I am disdainful that you should eat with me." Joseph became angry and said: "I am more entitled to be disdainful; indeed my father is Abraham, the Khalil (Intimate Friend) of Allah, and my grandfather is Isaac, the Dhabih (Sacrifice) of Allah."

11708 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Kurayb narrated to us, Sufyan ibn ‘Uqbah narrated to us, from Hamzah al-Zayyat, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu Maysarah who said: When the Aziz saw the gentleness, intelligence, and elegance of Joseph, he invited him, and he would eat lunch and dinner with him, excluding his servants. When that which occurred between him and the woman happened, she said to him one time: "Let him eat lunch and dinner with the servants." Joseph said to him to his face: "Do you desire that you eat with me? Or do you feel disdain to eat with me? I am, by Allah, Joseph son of Jacob, the Prophet of Allah, son of Isaac, the Dhabih of Allah, son of Abraham, the Khalil of Allah."

11709 - ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us: "And the King said, 'Bring him to me that I may appoint him exclusively for myself.'" He said: I shall take him for myself.

His saying, the Exalted: "So when he spoke to him, he said, 'Indeed, you are today with us established and trustworthy.'"

11710 - It was mentioned from ‘Umar ibn Hafs ibn Ghiyath, my father narrated to me, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Ishaq, from al-Qasim ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman who said: ‘Abd Allah said: The most physiognomically intuitive of people are three: The woman of Moses, the companion of Joseph—"Indeed, you are today with us established and trustworthy," and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq when he appointed ‘Umar as successor.
