Volume 7 · Page 70[Surah Yusuf (12): Verse 66]

Translation · EN

11755 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salama narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq: "And we will obtain an extra camel-load," i.e., we will add an extra camel load to our camels, "that is an easy load."

His saying, the Exalted: "He said, 'I will never send him with you until you give me a solemn oath by Allah.'"

11756 - 'Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, who said: Their father said when he saw that: "I will never send him with you until you give me a solemn oath by Allah that you will surely bring him back to me, unless you are surrounded [by an inescapable emergency]."

11757 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salama narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: When Ya'qub saw that, and realized that they must have provisions for his children and his family, and the people had been struck by severe hardship, he said: "I will never send him with you until you give me a solemn oath by Allah."

His saying, the Exalted: "...that you will surely bring him back to me, unless you are surrounded [by an inescapable emergency]."

11758 - Hajjaj ibn Hamza narrated to us, Shababa narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: His saying, "unless you are surrounded [by an inescapable emergency]," [means] you all perish.

11759 - Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatada, regarding "unless you are surrounded," he said: Unless you are overpowered, until you are unable [to prevent it].

11760 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salama narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "Unless you are surrounded" [means]: Unless something befalls you that takes you all away, and that will be an excuse for you with me.

His saying, the Exalted: "So when they had given him their solemn oath."

11761 - Hajjaj ibn Hamza narrated to us, Shababa narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "their solemn oath," he said: Their covenant.

11762 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi: "So when they had given him their solemn oath," he said: So they swore to him.
