Salamah, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Rubil said—as it was mentioned to me, and he was the eldest of the people: "Do you not know that your father has taken a solemn pledge from you by Allah?"

His saying, the Almighty: "So I will not leave the land until my father permits me."

11856 - Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, regarding His saying: "So I will not leave the land until my father permits me"—he said: I will not leave the land in which I am until my father permits me, i.e., to depart.

11857 - ‘Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "So I will not leave the land until my father permits me"—so Rubil stayed in Egypt, and the group returned to Ya‘qub, and he wept and said: "O my sons, you do not go out once but that you return one less."

His saying, the Almighty: "Or Allah decides for me," the verse.

11858 - My father narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Mu’min ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Salam ibn Harb narrated to us, Isma‘il informed us, from Abu Salih, regarding His saying: "So I will not leave the land until my father permits me or Allah decides for me"—he said: With the sword.

His saying, the Almighty: "Return to your father."

11859 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq: "Return to your father, for I am staying; I will not return until his command comes to me."

His saying, the Almighty: "Say, 'O our father, your son has stolen, and we only testified to what we knew.'"

11860 - My father narrated to us, ‘Affan narrated to us, Husam narrated to us, from Abu Ma‘shar, from Ibrahim, that he disliked for a man to write down his testimony; rather, when he is called to testify, he testifies and says: "We only testified to what we knew."

11861 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq: "Return to your father and say, 'O our father, your son has stolen, and we only testified to what we knew'"—i.e., the stolen item was taken from his saddlebag while we were watching.

11862 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd say: "We only testified to what we knew"—we did not testify that the thief is taken for his theft.
