Muslim ibn Yasar attributed the hadith: "I only complain of my suffering..." and said: "He who broadcasts his suffering does not have patience," then he recited the verse.

11903 - My father narrated to us, Hawdhah narrated to us, ‘Awf narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding: "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah," he said: "My need and my grief."

11904 - My father narrated to us, ‘Ali ibn Muhammad al-Tanafisi narrated to us, Abu Dawud al-Hafari narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Aslam, from Habib who said: Ya‘qub had reached such an old age that his eyebrows had to be lifted with a cloth. A man said to him, "What has brought you to the state I see?" He said, "The length of time and the abundance of grief." Allah then revealed to him, "Are you complaining about Me?" He said, "It was a mistake, O Lord, so forgive me."

11905 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, from Sufyan [1] regarding His saying: "I only complain of my suffering," he said: "My anxiety."

11906 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir informed us, Qatadah narrated to us regarding His saying: "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah," he said: "It reached us that the Prophet of Allah, Ya‘qub (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), never experienced any severity of affliction without his good opinion of Allah coming behind his affliction."

11907 - Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq who said regarding: "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah," because he saw their harshness, their roughness, and their poor speech toward him, and I did not complain of that to you; "I know from Allah what you do not know."

11908 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "I know from Allah what you do not know," he says: "I know that Yusuf’s vision is true, and that I—" he says: "I know that Yusuf’s vision is true, and that I shall prostrate to him."

His saying, the Almighty: "O my sons, go and find out about Yusuf and his brother."

11909 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Nufayl al-Harrani narrated to us, al-Nadr ibn ‘Arabi narrated to us, who said: It reached me that Ya‘qub remained for twenty-four years not knowing whether Yusuf was alive or dead, until the Angel of Death appeared to him, and he said to him, "Who are you?" He said, "I am the Angel of Death." He said, "I adjure you by the God of Ya‘qub..."
