Volume 7 · Page 93His saying (the Exalted): 'And do not despair of the mercy of Allah.'

Translation · EN

Has the soul of Yusuf been taken? He replied: No. It was then that he said: "O my sons, go and find out about Yusuf and his brother, and despair not of the mercy of Allah."

11910 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: Then Ya‘qub said to his sons, while he was maintaining his good opinion of his Lord despite the grief he was in: "O my sons, go to these lands from which you came and find out about Yusuf and his brother, and despair not of the mercy of Allah."

His saying, the Almighty: "And despair not of the mercy of Allah."

11911 - ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir informed us, Qatadah narrated to us regarding: "And despair not of the mercy of Allah," meaning: from the mercy of Allah.

11912 - Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq regarding His saying: "And despair not of the mercy of Allah," meaning: from the relief of Allah.

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, no one despairs of the mercy of Allah except the disbelieving people."

11913 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq regarding: "Indeed, no one despairs of the mercy of Allah except the disbelieving people," meaning: from the relief of Allah.

His saying, the Almighty: "So when they entered upon him."

11914 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali ibn Mihran narrated to us, ‘Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, meaning His saying: "So when they entered upon him," he said: When they returned to him, they said: "O Aziz, we and our family have been afflicted by harm."

His saying, the Almighty: "O Aziz, we and our family have been afflicted by harm."

11915 - ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir informed us, Qatadah narrated to us regarding: "O Aziz, we and our family have been afflicted by harm," meaning: the harm in livelihood.

11916 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Nufayl al-Harrani narrated to us, al-Nadr ibn ‘Arabi narrated to us, who said: It reached me that Ya‘qub said: "O my sons, go and find out about Yusuf and his brother." They set out to Egypt, and when they entered upon him, they could not find words more gentle than those they used to greet him, so they said: "O Aziz, we and our family have been afflicted by harm."
