Translation · EN

11917 - Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq regarding "So when they entered upon him, they said: O Aziz"—hoping that he would have mercy on them regarding the matter of their brother—"we and our family have been afflicted by harm."

His saying, the Almighty: "And we have brought goods."

[The First Perspective]

11918 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding: "And we have brought goods," he said: Dirhams.

The Second Perspective:

11919 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq informed us, from Ibn ‘Uyaynah, from ‘Uthman ibn Abi Sulayman, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, who said: I heard Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And we have brought goods of little worth (muzjah)," he said: Worn out, or property that is old—like rope, bags, and such items.

The Third Perspective:

11920 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Idris narrated to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Ziyad, from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Harith regarding: "And we have brought goods of little worth," he said: The goods of the Bedouins, such as wool and ghee.

The Fourth Perspective:

11921 - My father narrated to us, Yusuf al-Saffar narrated to us, Marwan ibn Mu‘awiyah al-Fazari narrated to us, Abu Asma’ al-‘Adawi narrated to me, from Marwan ibn ‘Amr al-‘Adawi, from Abu Salih regarding His saying: "And we have brought goods of little worth," he said: Terebinth (butm)—which is the green berry—and pine nuts.

His saying: "Muzjah" (of little worth).

11922 - My father narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Salih ibn Muslim narrated to us, Isra’il narrated to us, from Simak, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "Goods of little worth," he said: The base silver currency, which is of poor quality and is not accepted as payment unless it is discounted.

11923 - Abu ‘Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to us, Hafs ibn ‘Umar informed us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us, from ‘Ikrimah regarding the statement of the sons of Ya‘qub to Yusuf: "And we have brought goods of little worth," he said: Counterfeit dirhams.
