Translation · EN

Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Isma‘il regarding: "Allah will forgive you, and He is the most merciful of the merciful," he said: When they confessed their sin.

His saying, the Almighty: "Take this garment of mine and cast it over the face of my father."

11954 - al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Ya‘la narrated to us, Zakariyya narrated to us, from Simak, from ‘Amir, who said: There were three signs in the garment of Yusuf; when his garment was torn from the back, and when it was cast upon the face of his father, so he became sighted again.

11955 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, ‘Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, then he said to them: What did my father do after me? They said: When Binyamin was lost to him, he became blind from grief. So he said: "Take this garment of mine and cast it over the face of my father, he will become sighted, and bring me all your family." And Yahudha said: I am the one who took the garment to Ya‘qub while it was stained with blood and I said that the wolf had eaten Yusuf. Today, I am the one who will go to him with the garment and inform him that Yusuf is alive, so I will gladden him just as I saddened him. Thus, he was the bearer of good news.

11956 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Yahya al-Khushani narrated to us, from al-Hakam, from al-Muttalib ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Hantab, who said: When Ibrahim was cast into the fire, Allah clothed him with a garment from the garments of Paradise. Ibrahim clothed Ishaq with it, Ishaq clothed Ya‘qub with it, and Ya‘qub clothed Yusuf with it. He folded it, placed it in a silver tube, and put it around his neck. It was around his neck when he was cast into the well, when he was imprisoned, and when his brothers entered upon him. He took the garment out of the tube and said: "Take this garment of mine and cast it over the face of my father, he will become sighted." So Ya‘qub smelled the scent of Paradise while he was in the land of Canaan in Palestine and said: "I truly smell the scent of Yusuf."

His saying, the Almighty: "And bring me all your family."

11957 - My father narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Nufayl al-Harrani narrated to us, Zuhayr ibn Waqid narrated to us, Abu Ishaq narrated to us, from ‘Abd Allah who said: His family, when he sent for them while he was in Egypt, were ninety-three people; their men were prophets and their women were truthful women (siddiqat). By Allah, they did not leave with Musa until they reached six hundred and seventy thousand.

11958 - My father narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Ziyad narrated to us, Sayyar narrated to me, Ja‘far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, who said: I heard Farqad say: When Yusuf sent the garment to Ya‘qub, he took it.
