His saying the Almighty: "And had it not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy."
14263 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, [who] said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: His saying: "And had it not been for the favor of Allah," meaning: [it is] from Allah.
14264 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "And had it not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy," meaning: And His bounty.
His saying: "Not one of you would have ever been purified [zaka]."
14265 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih narrated to us, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from Ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Not one of you would have ever been purified," he says: Not one of the creation would have been guided by anything of goodness through which he benefits himself, nor would he have guarded himself against anything of evil to ward it off from himself.
14266 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "purified [zaka]," meaning: not one of you would have ever become righteous.
14267 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh reported to us, [who] said: I heard Ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "Not one of you would have ever been purified," he said: He would not have submitted [to Islam]. He said: And everything in the Qur'an that uses "zaka" or "tazakka" refers to Islam.
His saying the Almighty: "But Allah purifies whom He wills."
14268 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "But Allah purifies whom He wills," meaning: He makes righteous whom He wills.
His saying: "And Allah is Hearing, Knowing."
Its interpretation has already preceded [1].
His saying: "And let not those of virtue among you swear."
14269 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih narrated to us, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And let not those of virtue among you swear," he says: Let them not swear that they will not benefit anyone."

١٤٢٦٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلَوْلا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ يًعْنِى ونعمته.
قوله: ما زكى مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا.
١٤٢٦٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: مَا زكى مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا يَقُولُ: مَا اهْتَدَى أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْخَلائِقِ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ يَنْفَعُ بِهِ نَفْسَهُ، وَلَمْ يَتَّقِ شَيْئًا مِنَ الشَّرِّ يَدْفَعُ، عَنْ نَفْسِهِ.
١٤٢٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ الله: ما زكى يًعْنِى مَا صَلَحَ مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا.
١٤٢٦٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أنبأ أَصْبَغُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ زَيْدٍ فِي قول الله: ما زكى مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا، قَالَ: مَا أَسْلَمَ، قَالَ: وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ فِي القرآن من زكى، أَوْ تَزَكَّى، فَهُوَ الإِسْلامُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُزَكِّي مَنْ يَشَاءُ.
١٤٢٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يُزَكِّي مَنْ يَشَاءُ يَعْنِى يُصْلِحُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عليم

قوله: ولا يأتل أولوا الْفَضْلِ مِنْكُمْ.
١٤٢٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَلا يأتل أولوا الْفَضْلِ مِنْكُمْ يَقُولُ: لَا يُقْسِمُوا أَنْ لَا يَنْفَعُوا أَحَدًا.
