ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "Indeed, those who accuse chaste, unsuspecting women"—he said: It was revealed specifically concerning 'Aisha. (1)
And the second interpretation:
14286 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Nubayt: "Indeed, those who accuse chaste, unsuspecting women"—he said: They are the wives of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
14287 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Hisinjani narrated to us, [saying]: Musaddad narrated to us, [saying]: Ja'far ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying]: 'Uthman narrated to us, [saying]: 'Amr ibn Malik al-Nukri narrated to us, from Abu al-Jawza', who said: He recited this verse, "Indeed, those who accuse chaste women"—and said: This is specifically for the Mothers of the Believers.
14288 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh reported to us, [saying]: I heard Ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "Indeed, those who accuse chaste, unsuspecting women"—to the end of the verse—he said: This is concerning 'Aisha, and whoever does something like this today against the Muslim women, then he faces what Allah the Almighty and Majestic said. It is as if 'Aisha was the archetype of that.
14289 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, [saying]: Ibrahim ibn al-Mukhtar narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, from al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn 'Ali regarding His saying: "Indeed, those who accuse chaste women"—he said: The chaste women are those beyond the four [marriages].
His saying: "Unsuspecting."
14290 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "Unsuspecting"—meaning: [innocent] of immoral deeds, meaning 'Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). It was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan something similar.
The saying of the Most High: "Believing women."
14291 - By the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "Believing women"—meaning: the truthful ones.
14292 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn Musa, [who said]: Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, [saying]: Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "Believing women"—meaning: the Mothers of the Believers, the wives of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
His saying: "They are cursed."
14293 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd Allah ibn Khirash narrated to us, from al-'Awwam, from Sa'id
(1). Al-Hakim 4/10 said: This is a hadith with a sound chain of narration, and they (al-Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it, and al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
