Translation · EN

ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Indeed, those who accuse chaste women" up to His saying: "They are cursed in this world and the Hereafter"—he said: The curse is upon the hypocrites generally.

14294 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id regarding the saying of Allah: "They are cursed"—meaning: they shall be punished in this world, they were whipped eighty [lashes] in this world, and in the Hereafter—meaning 'Abd Allah ibn Ubayy, he will be punished with the Fire because he is a hypocrite.

His saying: "And they shall have a great punishment."

14295 - By the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "And they shall have a great punishment"—meaning: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) whipped Hassan ibn Thabit, 'Abd Allah ibn Ubayy, Mistah, and Hamnah bint Jahsh, eighty lashes each for the slander of 'Aisha. Then they repented after that, except for 'Abd Allah ibn Ubayy, the head of the hypocrites, who died in his hypocrisy.

The saying of the Most High: "The day their tongues shall bear witness against them."

14296 - By the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "The day their tongues shall bear witness against them"—he said: Whoever slandered 'Aisha on the Day of Resurrection.

His saying: "Their tongues."

14297 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la al-Misri narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Wahb informed us, [saying]: 'Amr ibn al-Harith informed me, from Darraj, from Abu al-Haytham, from Abu Sa'id, from the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) that he said: "When the Day of Resurrection comes, the disbeliever will be recognized by his deeds, but he will deny and argue. It will be said to him: These are your neighbors testifying against you. He will say: They are lying. It will be said: [Here are] your family and your kin. He will say: They are lying. It will be said: Swear [an oath]. They will swear. Then He will silence them, and He will make their hands and their tongues bear witness against them, then He will cast them into the Fire."

His saying: "And their hands."

14298 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Yahya al-Razi narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Abi Qays, from Mutarrif, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "Indeed, they—meaning the polytheists—when they see that no one enters except the people of prayer, they will say: 'Come, let us deny.' They will deny, so their mouths will be sealed, and their hands and their feet will testify, and they will not conceal from Allah any speech."

14299 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid ibn Zuray', [saying]: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Their tongues, their hands, and their feet shall bear witness against them": O son of Adam, by Allah, there are witnesses upon you that are not accused [of falsehood] from your own body, so watch them and fear Allah in your secrets and your public deeds, for no hidden thing is concealed from Him; darkness is light to Him, and the secret is public to Him. Whoever can die while having a good opinion of Allah, let him do so, and there is no power except by Allah."
