14328 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "And the good ones are for the good things"—he said: The good ones, meaning from the men and the women. Similar [interpretation] has been reported from Habib ibn Abi Thabit, Qatadah, and Muqatil ibn Hayyan.
His saying: "And the good things."
14329 - And with the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "The good things"—meaning the good among the people, for whom nothing is befitting except good speech.
14330 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, [saying]: Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid narrated to us, [saying]: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And the good ones are for the good things"—he says: The good things of speech and deed. Similar [interpretation] has been reported from Habib ibn Abi Thabit.
14331 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh informed us, [saying]: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "And the good ones are for the good things"—he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was good, and he was the most deserving of having the good woman, and 'Aishah was the good woman, and she was the most deserving of having the good man.
His saying: "Those are free from [what they say]."
14332 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [saying]: 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "Those"—meaning those who thought well of the believing men and women. And His saying: "are free from what they say"—they are free from [this] wicked speech.
14333 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, [saying]: Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, [saying]: Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Those are free from what they say"—meaning the good men and women.
14334 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us, [saying]: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding His saying: "Those are free from what they say"—he said: Here 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was declared free [of the accusation].
His saying, the Exalted: "from what they say."
14335 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, [saying]: Shababah narrated to us, [saying]: Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Those are free from what they say"—everyone who is free from what is not true regarding speech.
