14389 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, [who said]: Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, [who said]: Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, [who said]: Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And tell the believing women that they [should] reduce [some] of their vision."
He said: It has reached us - and Allah knows best - that Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari narrated that Asma' bint Murshidah was in a palm grove of hers among the Banu Harithah, and the women began to enter upon her without wearing loincloths, so what was on their legs appeared, meaning: anklets, and their chests and their braids would appear. Asma' said: "How ugly this is!" So Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, revealed regarding that: "And tell the believing women that they [should] reduce [some] of their vision," meaning: they should lower [some] of their vision.
His saying, the Exalted: "And guard their private parts."
14390 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya narrated to us, [who said]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [who said]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding: "And guard their private parts," [he said]: Meaning: from indecencies (al-fawahish).
14391 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying]: Nasr ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [who said]: Khalid ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding: "And guard their private parts," [he said]: They should guard their private parts so that no one looks at them.
14392 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Hisham ibn 'Ubayd Allah narrated to us, from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Sufyan, regarding His saying: "And guard their private parts" from what is not lawful for them.
14393 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, [who said]: Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [who said]: Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, [who said]: Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And guard their private parts," [he said]: Meaning: from adultery.
His saying: "And not expose their adornment."
14394 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Khalid narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abd Allah, who said: Adornment is of two types: an internal adornment that no one sees except the husband: the ring and the bracelet; and the external: the garments.
14395 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, [who said]: Isra'il informed us, from Abu Ishaq,
١٤٣٨٩ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا محمد ابن مُزَاحِمٍ، ثنا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلُهُ: وَقُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ.
قَالَ: بَلَغَنَا وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ- أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيَّ حَدَّثَ أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ مُرْشِدَةٍ كَانَتْ فِي نَخْلٍ لَهَا فِي بَنِي حَارِثَةَ، فَجَعَلَ النِّسَاءُ يَدْخُلْنَ عَلَيْهَا غَيْرَ مُؤْتَزِرَاتٍ فيبدو ما في أرجلهن، يعني: الخلاخل وتبدوا صُدُورُهُنَّ، وَذَوَائِبُهُنَّ، فَقَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ: مَا أَقْبَحَ هَذَا، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي ذَلِكَ: وَقُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ فَيَقُولُ: يَخْفِضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ.
١٤٣٩٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زرعة، ثنا يحي، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ يَعْنِى: عَنِ الْفَوَاحِشِ.
١٤٣٩١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ: وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ قَالَ: يَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ أَنْ لَا يَنْظُرَ إِلَيْهَا أَحَدٌ.
١٤٣٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ فِي قَوْلِهِ:
وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ مِمَّا لَا يَحِلُّ لَهُنَّ.

١٤٣٩٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا أَبُو خَالِدٍ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: الزِّينَةُ زِينَتَانِ: فزينة بَاطِنَةٌ لَا يَرَاهَا إِلا الزَّوْجُ:
الْخَاتَمُ وَالسِّوَارُ، وَالظَّاهِرَةُ: الثِّيَابُ.
