among men, or that she has anklets on her legs and moves them in the presence of men. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, forbade that, for it is from the work of the devil.
14434 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya reported, [who said]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [who said]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "And let them not strike their feet," and that is because a woman would have an anklet on her leg containing small bells, so when a stranger entered upon her, she would move her leg intentionally so he could hear the sound of the anklet. So He said: "And let them not strike," meaning: let them not move their feet.
14435 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi reported, from Sufyan (1), from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, regarding "And let them not strike their feet," [he] said: They used to wear beads on their legs, and when they passed by a gathering, they would move their legs so that what they were hiding of their adornment would be known.
14436 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Imran ibn Yazid ibn Abi Jamil reported, [who said]: Al-Hiql ibn Ziyad reported, [who said]: Al-Awza'i reported, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Mujahid, regarding "And let them not strike their feet," [he] said: The anklet hitting the other anklet.
His saying: "So that what they were hiding of their adornment would be known."
14437 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah reported, [who said]: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, [who said]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "So that what they were hiding of their adornment would be known," meaning: so that the stranger, when he enters upon her, may know what she is hiding of her adornment.
His saying: "Of their adornment."
14438 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi reported, [who said]: Abu al-Ahwas and Sharik reported, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Abd Allah, regarding: "So that what they were hiding of their adornment would be known," [he said]: The anklet. It was also narrated from 'Ikrimah and Sa'id ibn Jubayr similarly.
His saying, the Exalted: "And turn to Allah all together."
14438 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying]: Zayd ibn al-Hubab reported, from Abu Sinan, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "To Allah all together," [he] said: The righteous and the wicked.
14439 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah reported, [who said]: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "The believers," meaning those who attest to the Oneness of Allah.

عِنْدَ الرِّجَالِ أَوْ يَكُونَ فِي رِجْلَيْهَا خَلاخِلُ فَتُحَرِّكَهُنَّ عِنْدَ الرِّجَالِ، فَنَهَى اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى عَنْ ذَلِكَ، لأَنَّهُ مِنْ عَمِلِ الشَّيْطَانِ.
١٤٤٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أبو زرعة، ثنا يحي، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَلا يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ كَانَ يَكُونُ فِي رِجْلِهَا الْخَلْخَالُ فِيهِ جَلاجِلُ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا غَرِيبٌ تُحَرِّكُ رِجْلَهَا عَمْدًا لِيَسْمَعَ صَوْتَ الْخَلْخَالِ فَقَالَ: وَلا يَضْرِبْنَ يَعْنِى لَا يُحَرِّكْنَ أَرْجُلَهُنَّ.
١٤٤٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ «١» ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ وَلا يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ قَالَ: كَانَ فِي أَرْجُلِهِنَّ خَرَزٌ فَكُنَّ إِذَا مَرَرْنَ بِمَجْلِسٍ حَرَّكْنَ أَرْجُلَهُنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِينَ مِنْ زِينَتِهِنَّ

قَوْلُهُ: لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِينَ.
١٤٤٣٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يحى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِينَ مِنْ زِينَتِهِنَّ يَعْنِى لِيَعْلَمَ الْغَرِيبُ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا مَا تُخْفِي مِنْ زِينَتِهَا.
قوله: مِنْ زِينَتِهِنَّ.
١٤٤٣٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ وَشَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِينَ مِنْ زِينَتِهِنَّ الْخَلْخَالُ، وَرُوِِىِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا.
١٤٤٣٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا قَالَ: الْبَرُّ وَالْفَاجِرُ.
١٤٤٣٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يحى بن عبد الله ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: المؤمنون يني المصدقين بتوحيد الله.
