Uthman ibn 'Ata' narrated to me from his father, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, regarding His saying: "Indeed Allah is, after their forcing them, Forgiving and Merciful," [meaning] Allah has promised those who were forced forgiveness if they repent and correct themselves.
14540 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Numayr reported, [saying]: I heard al-A'mash regarding His saying: "And do not force your slave girls to prostitution," he said: 'Abd Allah ibn Ubayy had a slave girl, and he used to order her to prostitute herself, and she would hate that. So Allah revealed: "And do not force your slave girls to prostitution" until His saying "Forgiving, Merciful." He said: Thus, there was repentance for her.
14541 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to me, [saying]: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid ibn Zuray', reported, [saying]: Sa'id reported from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And whoever forces them, indeed Allah is, after their forcing them, for them Forgiving and Merciful," and not for them [the oppressors].
His saying, the Almighty: "And We have certainly sent down to you verses [that are] clear."
14542 - Through the same chain from Qatadah: "And We have certainly sent down to you verses [that are] clear," and this is the Qur'an; in it is the lawful of Allah, the unlawful of Allah, and the admonition of Allah.

14543 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, [saying]: Muhammad ibn 'Ali reported, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Muzahim reported, [saying]: Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf reported from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "Verses [that are] clear," meaning: what He has made obligatory upon them in this Surah from its beginning to its end.
His saying: "And an example from those who passed on before you."
14544 - Musa ibn Abi Musa narrated to us, [saying]: Harun ibn Hatim reported, [saying]: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad reported, [saying]: Asbat reported from al-Suddi from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "And an example from those who passed on [min alladhina khalaw]," meaning: who have departed.
14545 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, [saying]: al-Thawri informed us from Bayan from al-Sha'bi regarding His saying: "And an admonition," he said: An admonition from ignorance.
His saying: "For the righteous."
14546 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Sahl ibn 'Uthman reported, [saying]: al-Muharibi reported from Muhammad ibn Ishaq,
حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيّ يَعْنِى قَوْلُهُ: فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِكْرَاهِهِنَّ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْمُكْرَهَاتِ الْمَغْفِرَةَ إِنْ تُبْنَ وُأَصْلَحْنَ.
١٤٥٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الأَعْمَشَ فِي قَوْلِهِ:
وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا فتياتكم على البغاء قَالَ كَانَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ جَارِيَةٌ فَكَانَ يَأْمُرُهَا أَنْ تَبْغِيَ، وَكَانَتْ تَكْرَهُ ذَلِكَ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ: وَلا تُكْرِهُوا فَتَيَاتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَاءِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ قَالَ: فَكَانَتِ التَّوْبَةُ لَهَا.
١٤٥٤١ - حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يحي، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَمَنْ يُكْرِهْهُنَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِكْرَاهِهِنَّ لَهُنَّ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ وَلَيْسَتْ لَهُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَقَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ آيَاتٍ مُبَيِّنَاتٍ.
١٤٥٤٢ - بِهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ: وَلَقَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ آيَاتٍ مُبَيِّنَاتٍ وَهُوَ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ فِيهِ حَلالُ اللَّهِ وَحَرَامُ اللَّهِ، وَمَوْعِظَةُ اللَّهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: آيَاتٍ مُبَيِّنَاتٍ.
١٤٥٤٣ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ، ثنا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قوله: آيَاتٍ مُبَيِّنَاتٍ يَعْنِى مَا فَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ مِنْ أَوَّلِهَا إِلَى آخِرِهَا.
قَوْلُهُ: وَمَثَلا مِنَ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ.
١٤٥٤٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي مُوسَى، ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ابْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ قَوْلَهُ: وَمَثَلا مِنَ الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا يَعْنِى: مَضَوْا.
١٤٥٤٥ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ بَيَانٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَوْلَهُ: وَمَوْعِظَةٌ قَالَ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنَ الْجَهْلِ.
قَوْلُهُ: لِلْمُتَّقِينَ.
١٤٥٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ،
