from Dawud ibn al-Husayn, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And an admonition for the righteous," [meaning] those who come after them until the Day of Resurrection.
14547 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, [saying]: Adam reported, [saying]: Abu Ja'far reported from al-Rabi' from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding "And an admonition for the righteous," he said: An admonition for the righteous exclusively. It has also been narrated from Qatadah something similar to that.
14548 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying]: Junayj reported, [saying]: Salamah reported, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Ishaq [said]: "And an admonition for the righteous," he said: For those who obeyed Me and recognized My command.
14549 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to me, [saying]: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, [saying]: Yazid ibn Zuray' reported, [saying]: Sa'id reported from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And an admonition for the righteous," he said: It is Allah's admonition for whoever is admonished by it.
His saying, the Almighty: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth."
14550 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih reported, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth," he says, may He be exalted: He is the Guide of the people of the heavens and the earth.
14551 - Kathir ibn Shihab al-Madhhiji narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn Sabiq reported, [saying]: Abu Ja'far al-Razi reported from al-Rabi' ibn Anas from Abu al-'Aliyah from Ubayy ibn Ka'b regarding His saying: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth," he said: He is the believer in whose heart faith and the Qur'an have been placed. So Allah set forth an example for Him, saying: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth," beginning with the light of His own Self, may He be exalted [1].
14552 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali ibn Mahran reported, [saying]: 'Amir ibn al-Furat reported, [saying]: Asbat reported from al-Suddi: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth," he said: By His light, the heavens and the earth were illuminated.
His saying, the Almighty: "The example of His light."

14553 - Kathir ibn Shihab narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn Sabiq reported, [saying]: Abu Ja'far al-Razi reported from al-Rabi' ibn Anas from Abu al-'Aliyah from Ubayy ibn Ka'b regarding the saying of Allah: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light," he said: He is the believer in whose heart Allah has placed faith and the Qur'an in
(1). Al-Hakim 2/399 said: The chain of narration is authentic (Sahih), though they (Bukhari and Muslim) did not include it, and al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
